I'm getting ready to change my oil, and my ex-husband is giving me the oil I need.  We were talking about the focus, and he mentioned having a piece of my bumper undercladding that needs to go back on the car, and that he's going to give it to me, but not put it back on (typical of this man...lol).

Ok, so what is the bumper undercladding??  I've never heard of this before!  How does it go back on??  I'm assuming it's a fairly simple thing to put back on/remove, because he removed it himself.

Thanks!

if you have an 05 or newer focus then they have a "splash guard" under the front bumper tha should be put on to protect the air intake, and it also gives support to the bumper

I have an 06...

Do I *need* this on my car?  I'm assuming that if my ex has it, it hasn't been on the car since we changed out my intake a year ago...

If I need it, do you know how to reinstall it??

if you have a aftermarket intake and go through puddles or drive in the rain alot, it is a good idea to get it back on. you can buy a focus repair manual for 20.00 and it should have directopns on how to install it or go to your local dealer or a mechanical buddy and it should only take 5-10 minutes to install.  there are also how to forums on focus sites that detail how to do items on or around the bumper like clear corners etc.

I'd like to help, but I've never done it. If you have a true CAI, you  need all the protection you can get. Personally, I wouldn't take it a dealer because of $$$, but an independent mechanic will be able to handle it without problems.

Anyone with a socket set and two hands should be able to handle it without problems. Jack up the front of the car, it'll be quite obvious where it goes and how it fits.

The "bumper" side actually goes "in" the bumper. The other end screws to to lower radiator support.
