We are pleased to announce that WowBB 1.7 is now available.
What's new in 1.7:
Custom User Profile Fields
This is probably the most requested feature in this release: You can now create custom fields that can appear in user profiles, on the registration page, and even next to posts. Each field can also be made required and/or private.
WowBB supports many field types:
- Single line: Ideal for entering brief information.
- Multiple lines: Want to type something long? Use this.
- Checkboxes: Good for multiple selections (e.g. I like books and movies).
- Drop-down menu: For selecting only one choice (e.g. I am female).
- Attachments: Great for uploading files including images.

Online Status in Topics:
Whether a user is online or not is now displayed in topics, another much requested feature.
Auto Resize of Avatars & Attachments:
If your PHP installation has GD2 enabled (many PHP installations have), WowBB can now automatically resize all avatars & attachments.
PM Preview & Spell Check:
You can now preview and spell check your private messages before sending them. This has been requested by quite a few people too.
RSS Feeds:
You can use your favorite RSS reader or FireFox's Live Bookmarks feature to see the recent, popular and selected topics on your board.
Language Editor:
Want to change a phrase or two, or don't like how something was translated? With WowBB's new language editor, you can edit pretty much any phrase and even translate WowBB into a new language with ease. You can always revert to the original version or export your changes as PHP files (great for creating new translations).

Performance Improvements:
All attachments are now cached to significantly lower bandwidth usage and download times. In addition, WowBB's topic/forum caching algorithm is now smarter.
Major Bugs Fixed:
- A security hole that may be used to gain admin access is patched.
- Internet Explorer may fail to display lists when they are posted in FireFox. Fixed.
- Forum icons may occassionally stuck "unread". Fixed.
- Different registered users on the same IP are now handled fine.
- A user with an expired paid subscription is not moved to her original group if she renewed the subscription before the expiration date. Fixed.
- FireFox users are not counted correctly in board traffic statistics. Fixed.
- When pruning not activated accounts, registered users are not checked automatically. Fixed.
- Events posted on the 31st of a month may appear in the next month. Fixed.
- The non-functional "Close topic after posting" in Edit Topic removed.
Please note that at this time language files other than English are not fully translated (prepare to see occasional English words if you are using WowBB in another language). We also need translators to complete the French and German translations. If you are interested, please let us know.
You can upgrade by using the "upgrade" button in the customer area.
