I wouldn't have invaded either. Saddam is all everyone says he is, but that's not a good reason to declare war and invade a sovereign nation. Why don't we invade Cuba, N. Korea, China, Liberia, Libia, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Ethopia? Don't those people deserve "saving", too?
Bush outright lied about the reasons he invaded Iraq. There were no WMD's, no ties to Al Qieda, no threat to the US. Now he says stuff like, well, Saddam was evil & deserved to be overthrown for the sake of the Iraqi people, and for the stability of the region as well as the entire world.
So, now we're there. I wonder if the average Iraqi citizen thinks they're better off? I wonder how long it will be before they do..........if ever. We're training their army & police force, who then turn around and help insurgents. We're spending our precious human lives, time, resources and untold billions upon billions of dollars. Those things could be put to much better use right here in the good ole US of A. The money spent on this war alone, could have provided health care for every man, woman & child in our country. It could have provided more services & comforts for those who have suffered through the recent hurricanes, could have been used to improve the nations school system, could have been used for medical research, etc., etc.
How do we get out of there? Just pulling troops immediately might not be the best solution. The way things look now, we could be there for many years, and the problems that exist may never be resolved. I don't have any answers. I look around & see that the US seems to be hated around the world as never before. There are lots of places I'd rather not go & be identified as an American, because frankly, I'd be worried about my safety.
The only opinion I have is that Bush is a reckless and arrogant President. The action I will take is to cast my vote against this idiot, so that hopefully, he won't do any more harm.

Politics and World Policies are so complex and with the media really spinning the hell out of everything makes me so doubtful of most actions our world leaders take anymore.
Jeez - look at the stuff going on in the Former Soviet Union now!! That scares the bejeezus out of me! Another Communist style dictatorship in the works?!

Eh, I think that getting rid of Saddam was a good idea. He was a bastard and I do think he was a threat to the U.S. He was a psycho billionaire that only wanted power and had all the time in the world to plot against the country that kept him from what he wanted... more power. There are plenty of other nations that could do well from a change of regime forced by a military invasion but how many can be without nuclear retaliation or without the rest of the world coming down on us. Castro can't live too much longer and I doubt Cubans will allow that kind of crap to go on much longer after that. N. Korea is one that i really think is a danger to the world. Their leader is nuts and they have a million troops at the border with S. Korea and then there is their nuclear program to deal with. China is made out to be a lot worse by America than it really is. Like vietnam, their culture is more communal than most other countries and their population dictates a more strict government than a republic like America. Syria's a craphole that needs to change just cause its support of radical islam but Israel will see to that once war breaks out over there and syria shells them from the golan heights. Saudi Arabia's one of the best arab states and one of our only allies. The african nations are all just junk and incapable of changing easily. There are too many cultures that hate each other within the borders of those nations. I say let them fight it out amongst themselves. Overall I think that Iran should be the next target of the U.N. They are a danger to the entire world.
