Well geez! If we allowed these folks to have pot for medical reasons, how could we ever hope to win "The war on drugs?"  After all, we're certainly winning the war so far, right? I mean, just look at the progress we've made over the past 20 years. Illegal drug use has nearly been brought to a complete halt in the U.S., right?? Everyone knows there are stiff penalties for drug use/abuse/trafficking, so nobody does it any more. ..........Well, hardly anybody, right? I think we should be spending billions and billions of our hard-earned tax dollars to make sure nobody ever has access to these drugs again, even if it would save their lives. It's just too risky.

The really unfortunate part is that the judges are appointed for life. It's very difficult to overcome their decisions. With GW here for another 4 years, he will almost certainly have the opportunity to appoint more conservative judges, thereby virtually rubber stamping his agenda to continue the present insane policy re: drugs.
