I read about this story on Yahoo!News (ok, it's where I get pretty much all my news).

So sad, some of those boys just want to see their moms or be with their
families (some as young as like 14?!) and the relatives won't talk to
them!

The leader of this particular sect seems like a real loser, and he's
disrupting all these people and getting them to believe and boot out
their own kids?! It's just sad, I hope the investigation/case against
him gets somewhere, because he sounds downright dangerous.
