CLEVELAND - Former Ohio State and Cleveland Browns tight end Darnell Sanders has asked a judge to return his two dogs, seized after an 82-year-old man was attacked in April.

Sanders, who now plays for the Chicago Bears, asked a Cuyahoga County Common Pleas judge on Wednesday to order his pitbull terriers returned. An attorney for the suburb of Parma opposed the request.

The judge is expected to rule within two weeks.

Sanders was in Chicago on April 13 when the dogs escaped from a friend who was watching them and, along with another dog, attacked Ernie Assad as he watered his garden in Parma, police said. Assad was treated at a hospital, but later died from his injuries. A Parma animal-control officer seized the dogs.

No criminal charges have been filed. A Parma police detective said the case will be presented to a grand jury in July. Assad's heirs have filed a $1 million wrongful-death lawsuit against Sanders and others.

Why wasn't the dog put to sleep? There is no reason it shouldn't have and it certainly shouldn't be allowed to return to it's owner. Also, why wasn't the owner charged?!

I'm feeling more than a little bit human aggressive here, and would like to say that we don't need to hear about every fucking pitbull attack. I don't need to hear about every golden attack, rottweiler <insert most hated breed of dog here>
There are plenty of things that kill and harm more than dogs do.
Hello cigarettes, automobiles, alcohol, drugs, murder, suicide, cancer etc.

Mr. V, I don't know exactly what you are trying to prove by posting this.

edit: I'm sorry.. maybe I shouldn't say what's on my mind all of the time. I hope you're not offended Mr. V.
