I hadnt heard that AL-Qaeda had taken resonsibility for the bombings... its frigin sick.

just goes to show that the bad guys will never go away (esp when you go to war with a country with no connection with them).

There really isnt anything else to day..... its shocking. London always felt like such a safe city when i was there, never had a problem or a scare in all the times i had been there, alone or with other people.... now.... i dont know how its going to feel :(

I just saw a news title on Yahoo's homepage about "World Recoils after London Attack" and was like what?!

That's terrible, I can't remember the last time London had an attack on them, especially of considerable size like this one seems to be? It kind of reminds me of that incident, was it in Spain a couple years ago?

Damn terrorists, anything to get their word out and spread anger by killing innocent people... I'll never understand.:(

Yeah this whole thing sucks! It's going to be an endless battle. I'm stationed overseas so as soon as it was confirmed attack we had to lock down the base. One of these days we'll get these people. With the attacks continuing it's just going to focus more attention and funds to hunt these people down.

It's terrible. Unfortunately, the war on terrorism is likely to be very much like the war on drugs. They'll never be completely eliminated. I'm certainly not suggesting that we abandon the fight, only that I'm not too optimistic about the outcome.

Very true Mr V, It isn't realistic to say terroist attack can and will be eiliminated. How ever it's not a good idea to sit idle and wait for the next one to come. If anything we're getting a message to the terrorists too. I guess I have job security. LOL

I have relative in London and Scotland....That sucks...I don't see the terrorist issue ending in the near future if ever...

This always happens when I'm traveling...I was a little nervous putting my son on his flight to Oregon yesterday...now I'm heading out to Oregon next Friday...

Remarkable the difference between what normal people here have as a response and what the news people present to the world.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1524856,00.html

Fox News slammed over 'callous' line

Julian Borger in Washington
Saturday July 9, 2005
The Guardian

Rupert Murdoch's Fox News channel was under fire yesterday for comments by some of its leading journalists in response to the London bombs.

Speaking about the reaction of the financial markets, Brit Hume, the channel's Washington managing editor, said: "Just on a personal basis ... I saw the futures this morning, which were really in the tank, I thought 'hmm, time to buy'."

The host of a Fox News programme, Brian Kilmeade, said the attacks had the effect of putting terrorism back on the top of the G8's agenda, in place of global warming and African aid. "I think that works to our advantage, in the western world's advantage, for people to experience something like this together, just 500 miles from where the attacks have happened."
Another Fox News host, John Gibson, said before the blasts that the International Olympic Committee "missed a golden opportunity" by not awarding the 2012 games to France. "If they had picked France instead of London to hold the Olympics, it would have been the one time we could look forward to where we didn't worry about terrorism. They'd blow up Paris, and who cares?" He added: "This is why I thought the Brits should let the French have the Olympics - let somebody else be worried about guys with backpack bombs for a while."

Media Matters for America, a watchdog and frequent critic of Fox, criticised the comments on its website. "I think it's absolutely sickening three Fox anchors had such callous reactions to the bombings that took dozens of lives," said the Jamison Foser, of the group.

The Fox News media relations office had not responded by the time the Guardian went to press yesterday.

Comments like this 'if true, which I am willing to bet they are, are the exact reason why the media needs to be made much more accountable!

I am sick to death of being called an 'American' like it's a bad thing by many foreign people.  I've been personally attacked just because IMHO we have a president who is fulfilling his own personal agendas with no regard to the effect it has on us as a nation!

These news people are held in too high regard and when something like this is said by them the rest of the world assumes all US citizens hold the same feelings.

This makes me sick...why can't these people with their callus remarks be fined or severely repromanded???  This does the rest of us here in the USA NO good when it comes to those of us who believe we are a planet of humans who need to co-exist, not races, colors, creeds or nationalities that need division, distrust and hatred fed by those that speak and are heared around the world and then taken as a representation of all of us.

If it counts...I can say without any hesitation I do not agree with these comments AT ALL and I'm ashamed to think a US Citizen who has lived to see the towers fall and our main, major defense building take a direct hit by terrorists.  We're getting 'thick skinned' to all of this and take is lightly...it isn't a laughing matter in any stretch.

Fucking politics!:fu

I agree that it's really a severe problem. If any criticism ensues, they hollar "1st amendment rights." But then, so do pornographers, right & left wing nuts, tabloids etc., etc. I think within the next 10-20 years, the 1st amendment might be revised a bit. Personally, I think it needs to be;diploma.

They should be allowed to say what they want....YOU have the right not to listen or better yet..You have the right to say wha tyou said...but to want to change the first amendment...is ignorant in my opinion...if they change the 1st amendment...then forums like these will go away.  Mos tof the shit on TV will disappear ...which isnt a bad thing.  Foreigners arent upset by what they see see on or our news....they see they're news and get upset...but they know its not all americans.  Canadians dont count they are damn near americans....They just love the queen of another country???? Anyway Im ranting....like the first amendment allows.

I think people should be able to say what they want however if your part of a new oganization it should be about facts not about their personal opinions. I get the real blunt end of the stick being in the military and being overseas. Shit like this causes a lot of heartach with the local people and we are the only americans around so who do you think gets the slap in the face?

I do feel we have a right and should retain the right to speak freely...HOWEVER!....

News Agencies need to be held to a higher editorial process IMHO because they are supposed to be reporting FACTS, not their OPINIONS!

If it is an opinion being viewed, then you do an editorial and put your disclaimer in there.

If it is NEWS - stop guessing and hoping your information is correct.  I'm sick of the false reports and the apologies.  Damnit...I don't trust ANY media: Newspaper, Radio, TV etc...  There are false reports all over and when we catch these reporters in their lies and misinformation they need to be repromanded severely.  Especially in situations where they're reporting their opinion.

Go back to the days when if you wanted to voice your opinion as a newscaster, do an editorial!

Well it looks like people are trying to blow up tubes and buses AGAIN in London. 2 Weeks to the day.

They were smaller explosions. They think it was just detinators not acutal explosives. A few people were hurt, no one killed.

There is the story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4703777.stm

God people are sick.

You know...this is just me speaking from a long time of shit happening lately so pardon my outburst.

I'm sick to death of all countries and their countrymen blaming all of the WORLD's problems on one country, the USA.

I don't like our politics any better than most, but not all of us as US citizens agree with the Bullshit propaganda, politics and greed that drives this whole civization. World domination seems to be such a freaking driving force for twisted individuals.

I don't like BUSH, I don't like most of what he does, what he stands for or even to look at the man.  He reminds me of a dirty old used car salesman with a pedefelia streak! I also know that the bullshit politics happening in the middle east aren't new!  It's not just the middle east either.  There's terrorism everywhere...for what?!  Power! Religion! Land!

I'm so sick to death of being called an American like I'm some kind of plague.  I read it everywhere..I hear it on the news, I see it in blogs and forums everywhere...why the hell are these ppl. representing us?!  I'm sick of it

Bush can't speak to save his own hide...he looks like a stammering, coward of a man with no believablity in anything he says.

I'm sorry for those who feel differently, but all I have witnessed since this administration has been death, hate, fingerpointing and zealotous knee-jerk reactions to everything.

If I had one wish, it would be to eliminate hate completely.

Chelly, outburst all you need.:)
There is a disconnect all over the place. We came within one vote up here of having the government defeated. If that one independent vote hadn't come through we'd likely have had an election by now and the new government would have had us following Karl Rove's directives in lock step. The sigh of relief was huge.
