(11/4/05) — State police say a pregnant woman died when her vehicle was struck on the Lowell Connector by another car that apparently lost control during a drag race. The victim has been identified as 31 year-old Deborah Hornberger of Leominster. Her unborn baby died.
Police say the car that struck Hornberger's vehicle was driven by 18 year-old Carlos Rodriguez of Lowell, who is in critical condition at a Boston hospital. The crash occurred during the afternoon rush hour and closed the road for about three hours.
Police say two vehicles were apparently racing at speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour when one went out of control, crossed the median, went airborne and landed on Hornberger's car. It then struck a second car, slightly injuring that driver. As of last night, no charges had been filed.
imho - This guy should go to jail for LIFE!

were these guys braindead, christ. they were doing this during rush hour.
both drivers ought to be nailed to the wall on this one. stupidity is a crime in this case.
the other driver, as far as i can see was just as negligent just by racing with the other guy that lost control.

Keep it on the track people...
I freakin agree. What kind of moron pills do you have to be on the street race DURING RUSH HOUR?
I am a huge supporter of street racing, but there's a time and a place where it can be done somewhat safer. And it sure as hell isn't a busy street during rush hour. When it's done in a responsible manner, the risk of innocent lives is slim to nil, and even the risk of those involved is very slight.
I'm not saying street racing is safe. Things happen. Things can go wrong. But there are definately more responsible ways of doing it than what these people did. Fucking think people!

Rush hour, of ALL the times during the day, wtf? And on the Lowell Connector, they've gotta be morons, I don't like driving the speed limit on that damn road.
Jail for life, absolutely. No parole, no nothing. He'll never get that though, no premeditation, even though it's 2 lives he won't rot for nearly as long as he deserves.

I heard about this last night. My manager at the grocery store lives right off the connector, and saw the scene of the accident, not the accident itself.
I stopped doing that shit altogether when I got my Focus. Its too risky. If your gonna race, take it to the track. Don't put others in jeopardy because you fell you have something to prove.
To add to this, Dan and I were up in Burlington VT this weekend.
We got up there on Friday night 11/4 around 10pm and we were going into the Hannaford there.
I was sitting at a light to turn left and there was a car turning right out of the Hannaford exit to my left and these two ASSES come flying up into and past the intersection and make my car rock side to side because they were going so damned fast street racing. Then the guy in the right lane had to slam on his breaks because of the person minding their own business coming out of the hannafords.
Look, I'm sorry if anyone takes offense to this, but don't street race. The streets are not a safe place to risk yours and other's lives. The race track has maintenance crews to make certain there is no desbris and that it's paved level etc.
There are too many deaths due to speeding and now the street racing scene is starting to loose more and more lives and killing others.
Stop it! I don't want to get killed or get a phone call about someone dying because someone couldn't keep their dick in their pants! It doesn't impress me and those that it does.. I don't know what to tell you. It's lame. IMHO
