So, Yesterday we got REALLY BAD thunderstorms. I mean.. REALLY BAD.
Exeter, my home town, was ground zero for this wonderful event.. and boy did we get it! I live little less than a mile from where they got it the worst. We had pingpong ball to pea sized hail. So much of it that it looked like we just had a nice winder storm. Bill has pictures of that on his camera so I might have those up eventually
downtown got it the worst. BASEBALL SIZE HAIL. I know, this might not be a big deal to those in the mid-west who get this lots but NH NEVER gets hail. When we do, its itty bitty. I have never seen this kinda hail before.
With the hale came torrential rains and even a tornado watch. had a few spottings in town of funnel clouds. The Walgreens in down lots its roof the the cave in, the Crystler dealer had 350 damaged cars... some totalled, the honda dealer had 99% of its inventory damaged. So, if you want a new car with some dents... come to Exeter!!
Anyways, the miata took the brunt of it being downtown at the time. Dented to hell, back window and roof shot... holes, rips. BADNESS. Brought me to tears when I got home it was so smashed up. Went in today to get an estimate on fixing her.. should know by tomorrow.
Here are some pics. The car, the aftermath this AM (mind you the worse was between 12 and 3 yesterday, and a BAD screen capture of some of the hail caught on video. enjoy!

Pffft, you call that hail damage? We go out and play catch in that.
LOL. That does look pretty intense. Seems like the north east has been the place to be for storm chasers this year. I went out on my first chase in weeks last night. Normally Im sufferin' from good sleep depervation by this time with all the storms we normally get.

I've lived in Denver, CO and we had hail on a regular basis, so you actually had a waiver for hail damage to pay for.
For us new englanders however, this is not typical! It has been generally very warm for the winter, spring and summer so far and we've had copious amounts of rain & flooding.
I'm sorry Pokes, I really am, this sucks! I hope they'll fix your mom's car for her, I know she loves her little yellow Miata!

Ouch! I spent 7 years in North Dakota and it was pretty bad there at least a couple times a year. I would run out and put the car in the garage and then back the truck as far as I could into the one car garage, the rest of the truck I covered with my conforter from the bed. LOL I was one of the only people who even bothered to try and protect their car. Never could understand people.
Just givin' ya a hard time pokes. There was a chaser I know pretty well and have chased with before whos car last year was, ummm, pelted with softball size hail. Was some pretty significant damage to the thing.
All the storms I have chased and all the hail I have been in, I have never had any damage. My wife, who hates storms, has never chased a storm on her own was pelted with hail a couple of years ago and had several dents in her car from it. Go figure.

Just for the estimate for the little yellow car.... $5,555 to get her fixed
she only has 30K on her but is so old is only worth $4500.
I think we are going ot buy her back though and either suck up the difference or Im going to go out of a quest for Miata parts and me and some friends are gonna fix her up.
WE CANT LOSE OUR BABY!!

I say buy it back and auto-x it as is. should do pretty good.....
Of just fix the top, so you don't get wet, and use it to commute to and from work. No one will challenge you at murges and such because its all beat up they'd be afraid you wouldn't care about hitting ther preshous car. Sorry Chelly and I have "issues" with murges and such every danm day on the way home. But when I trive the Toyota I have no "issues" not even 1 little one. for some strange reason.. Hmmmmm????? Wonder why.........
