Yeah, I saw it and generally liked it. It's really taken on a life of its own. Napoleon Dynamite has only been in select theaters and I can understand why. That's not to say it's bad, it's just very hard to explain what the hell it is. I mean, I saw it, and still don't really know what the hell I saw. It's basically about a high school looser, his looser family, his looser town, and the weird way people seem to get by day by day. There were some seriously funny parts in it which probably make it worth the matinee price. I bet it would be hysterical to watch at home with a case of Steel Reserve though!
Most of the stuff that's REALLY funny isn't in the previews at all. If you like quirky movies, things that are certainly not mainstream, and appreciate weirdness in all its glorious manifestations, then you'll probably love Napoleon Dynamite. If you want to see some teen sex comedy with beautiful people and tired cliches for jokes, then you'll hate this movie. Honestly, I thought the creative way they did the opening credits was worth the price of admission so everything after that was a bonus.
Just a side note; the movie house that's playing N.D. ran an ad in today's newspaper with N.D. on one side and Predator on the other with a title "NVP: Napoleon vs. Predator" and Napoleon was saying, "At last... a foe worthy of my sweet ninja moves." That's pretty indicative of the movie's humor.
I really feel like punshing the guy with the brillo pad hair and those freaking dumb glasses, the main dude I guess, so I can't watch it. He seems so stupid, I want 2 punch him, LOL
