I haven't been to see a musical in quite a few years. This one is set in NYC, and the focal point is a bohemian life style. The cast is a bunch of no-names, except for the guy who plays a det. on Law & Order.
Everyone has a good voice, and the music, which is done in a contemporary manner, is mostly quite good. The problem is, there's too much of it. There are hardly any speaking parts in the movie. That gets old in a hurry. The plot is also extremely weak, and the movie is almost twice as long as it should be.
I found it to interesting, even very good in spots, but overall, it's just tedious. My advice for Rent is to...rent it. 31/2 stars out of 10.
