Well, if you've read the book you probably weren't too interested in seeing the movie, or were you?

I like Tom Hanks all around as an actor, but I don't know how I felt about this movie and the way the plot was brought out.

I do agree that the idea behind the whole DaVinci Code thing is a bit controversial, but I wasn't bowled over by the performances.

I've not read the book, excerpts are about it, so I have no comparison, but I'd be interested in hearing other's point of view?

I have read the book, actually most of Brown's books and I am interested in seeing the movie. I have a feeling it's not gonna be great, but I wanna see it just to see it. I loved hte book and remember that I couldn;t put it down, as it hase been with his other books. I just hope they don;t kill it as bad as they did with the TV movie for the book Mysts of Avalon. The absolutely butchered that movie and it was not even close to the book. I'll let ya know when I see it. Gonna try and talk Mike into it over the weekend.:pop

I have read the book AND seen the movie.
Its hard to say if it was good or bad. I think it would be better if you hadnt read the book since you dont know any of the twists or anything. At the same time it follows the book pretty close. Some it it might be a little confusing, but you should be able to get it.

Overall, im glad i saw it. Probably could have waited to rent it, but the book was better (as always)

Now there it talk of making and Angles and Demonds movie (the book that came before Da Vinci Code). That Angles and Demonds was a MUCH better book. I think im one of the few who read it first (actually makes the Da Vinci Code more enjoyable). I Know I will probably so see it too just because I have to. I just hope they take thier time and make it better than this one!

I was very anxious to see it, but several friends told me it wasn't very good. I think I'm going to read the books, starting with Angels & Demons, then rent the movie.

I totally agree on how they suck you in! I read DVC at my aunt's urging when it first came out, loved it, and proceeded to read his other 3. I think A&D is my favorite as well- I wish I woulda read them in order (good call Mr V). I mean, only those 2 feature Robert Langdon, so I guess you could read deception point or digital fortress whenever...

I did see the movie last weekend, I love pretty much anything Tom Hanks does and despite his goofy haircut, I knew once they cast him that I'd go see it no matter what. I think they did a decent job with the movie. I'm no director or whatever, but it seems the book is written in a way that makes it tricky to adapt it to film real well. I mean in the book you "see" Langdon's thoughts a lot more, how he arrives at his conclusions. In the movie it looks more like he randomly leaps to these ideas outta nowhere. But I don't know how they coulda gotten us more "into his head" without making the movie 18 hours long.

So overall I think they did well. My bf has yet to read the book and asked how they did on leaving stuff out. I told him I couldn't think of much that they glaringly omitted, but I've got a bad memory for details, and I did read the book like 2-3 years ago!

Also, did anyone notice among all the white police BMWs (in London I think) there's at least one Focus!
