I had absolutely no idea what this was about proir to seeing it. At 1st it seems like a collection of distant, unrelated events. These events take place in Japan, Morocco, and So Cal, and naturally, the languages are all different. The Japaneese & Arabic are in subtitles. The events come into focus pretty quickly, and I got a sense of what was going on, and how these events & people were related and affected each other. I'm not going to give the plot away. This was, (to me) a very interesting movie with a bunch of different themes running through it. What themes? Well, there's gun safety, childhood curiosity, love/romance, politics, jumping to conclusions, the treatment and non-acceptance of the handicapped, drunk driving and illegal aliens to name a few.
There's some action, some sex, some brutality, and pretty much something for everybody. My guess
