This is a true story about Robert Hanssen, an FBI agent that was spying for the Russians. He was very likely the most damaging spy in the history of the U.S.
A rookie FBI agent-in-training is assigned to him to gather evidence. The movie is largely about the relationship between these two men, and how their families are effected by their respective jobs. There are some excellent insights into the FBI, and some super sleuth stuff, and plenty of suspense.
Chris Cooper plays Hanssen, and somebody I never heard of plays the rookie assigned to him. All the actors, supporting and starring do an excellent job. For once, the movie is not too long. It seems like the trend is to make 3+ hour movies these days. Not this one. It's tight, concise, has a good plot, and terrific acting.
My score...82 out of 100.
