Saw this yesterday. Stars Samuel L. Jackson & Christina Ricci. It's about disfunctional people who live in a small, very rural southern community. Jackson's wife left him to run off & marry his younger brother. This left him filled with anger, sadness and more than a little confusion. Jackson's a farmer, and a former blues singer/guitarist.
Meantime, Christina Ricci, a blatant nymphomaniac and the town slut, experiences her fiance leave for Iraq. Within 2 hrs she's in bed with another guy. Later that evening at a party, she takes some drugs, gets laid again, then is beaten & left for dead on the side of a road.
Jackson finds her and attempts to rehabilitate her. The movie focuses on their experiences together over the next few weeks.
There's some good blues music, a little humor, graphic sex scenes and a very, very good look at Ms. Ricci who, by the way, is a total babe. It's a pretty good movie. I'm glad I saw it. The acting is terrific, the story unusual, but there are no surprises. I give it a 78 out of 100.
