Driving home from the gym, I had the radio on. They played a Christmas song by the Kinks. OK, I know I'm probably really showing my age here, but I was offended by the lyrics. I don't remember them exactly, but they were talking about something like this:
Father Christmas, bring us money for Christmas. Save those stupid toys for all the rich little boys. If you don't come across with the cash, we'll have to beat your ass. It continued for some time threatening to beat up Father Christmas if he didn't deliver them money. They also asked for a machine gun, so they could scare all the other kids on the block.
I'm all for the 1st amendment, but IMO, this shit is garbage. I've been a teacher for almost 30 years. I've spent huge portions of my life with young people. It's really pretty hard to shock me, but somehow, this song did. I wasn't so much surprised as I was pissed off.
