yeah news flash perry - Grunge and alt rock are dead. fucking d-e-a-d. the masses have finally admited that when a band sucks, they arent just avant guard or eclectic. they fucking suck. Thank god, burn in hell lalapalooza.
One of the biggest rock tours of the '90s is finding this decade a lot less hospitable. This year's Lollapalooza tour, which was to feature acts including Morrissey, Modest Mouse, PJ Harvey, and jam-band the String Cheese Incident, has been canceled due to poor ticket sales, according to a statement from promoters posted on the tour's official website.
''My heart aches along with the bands, and all of our employees, whose hard work developed one of the most exciting and important tours that this nation was to see. My heart is broken,'' tour cofounder (and Jane's Addiction frontman) Perry Farrell said in a statement.
Another cofounder, William Morris Agency agent Marc Geiger, blamed the cancellation of the tour, which had been on hiatus from 1998 to 2002, on hard times for the concert industry as a whole. ''I am in utter disbelief that a concert of this stature, with the most exciting line-up I've seen in years did not galvanize ticket sales,'' he said in a statement. ''Many summer tours are experiencing weak ticket sales.'' All tickets sold from this year's festival will be refunded, according to the festival's website.
This year's Lollapalooza was to be the first to be divided into two days at each stop; the second day was to be headlined by the String Cheese Incident, an act far removed from the festival's alt-rock roots. ''It's risky -- it's a real left turn,'' Farrell told EW last month.
Metal is comin back for thee attack. Everybody needs a good swift kick in tha ass. All this pop/MTV rubbish is really sissying everyone up. MTV - Where you can get gayed out and played out.
I had a dream once that MTV was playing some bubblegum crap, and all of a sudden, the screen went snowy, and the song "Upon Frayed Lips of Silence" by NECROPHAGIA came on, and I ran full force into tha wall and blew it in half and landed outdoors. Then tha whole backside of my house caved in. It fuckin ruled!
speaking of which, whatever happened to mtv? i mean like when they actually played videos and stuff. christ, everytime i turn it on it's about somebody dhing somebody and all the vids are latenight it seems.
I think MTV2 was suppose to be like the old MTV and just play vids but they are already putting shows on it.
It's a just a matter of time before MTV2 is no different than MTV.
One thing that pissed me off was that before MTV2 came to my town, we had The Box.
You paid a $1 to have a vid played froma list they had on the screen or online.
It was cool. When you would call in and enter you selection, you could see yourself making the selection on the TV screen in the bottom right hand corner.
At least you got to see some vids you liked.
This lasted about a year than I think MTV bought them out...
Man, I remember MTV...wow, do I remember it...I can't stand it now because it began the whole "reality tv" crap.
I'm sure the box was too much competition...now MTV uses it!

Dood, The Box kicked my ass! We used to watch back when we were in like 8th and 9th grade. We would order Suicidal Tendencies videos. We taped everything and made awesome VHS tapes of our favorite vids/songs. It kicked butt. My butt.
