So this morning I noticed soemthing. I drive with just my fogs on most of the time and I could see the reflection of them in the car in front of me. Looks good. Now to the point of my post :)

I was coming down the highway this morning, radio going as always, new CD playing, great bass, hitting nicely. Then I look at that reflection in the car and realize that my car looks like a p olice car coming up behind someone. With closer observation, I turn the dimmer on my interior lights all the way up and see that all my lights are flashing with every hit of my subs. I know that a lot of people have this problem don't they? Is my amp not strong enough for the car? Do I need to buy a cap to store more power? Should I get a grounding kit possibly? Should I turn my radio down so I'm not deaf by the age of 21? :)

Any and all suggestions welcome and appreciated. Thanks guys and gals!!

i believe you named both of your possible problems.

1)You could definetly use a capacitor. Should reduce the dimming.

2)A grounding kit will help as well.

Also, you could upgrade your alternator, and even your battery.

Oh, and it would be wrong of me to tall you to turn it down, since im just as bad.....so far i have made it 26 years and im not deaf....:shock:

HUH? Oh, how many watts is your amp rated at(RMS)? I have a soundstream 1000.2 (1000 watts RMS) with an alt. UDP and rarely see my lights dim, and NO, I don't have a cap. Once I get around to installing it again I'll crank it up and see if I notice anything.

Check this out......Capacitors are a wate of space IMO the best thing to do is upgrade your big THREE and get a new battery and possibly a new High Ouptu Alternator.....  Heres a link to understanding your BIG THREE

i agree with audio junkee...well mainly just the alternator part...mainly because all a battery is, is 6 caps in a plastic case...and alternator is the best usually to start with and go from there...i have one 801d running like 500-800 watts at any given time...and my lights damn near shut off...that's how much they dim down...and i am only running it on one twelve...i disonnected the other twelve...damn...but yeah...i usually do this when i have the money..

1) high output alternator
2) newer battery (and possibly a second battery)
3) and a cap, but only if running competition
