I need to remove the radio, I know how to but do I really need that special U shaped tool? Is there anything I could use in it's place?
I have the part number for the little tool(415-001) should I just get this from Ford or a store that sells audio stuff?

Rice Boys or Rice Zone I mean Pep Boys or Auto Zone should have them for like $5-$6. I hace used nails before but it marks up the square hole a bit. I would just buy the tool at the local auto store.

Hey Tiff, double post, are you trying to get your post count up?
I got the head unit off, so thanks guys. Now I have another question. Has anyone painted the radio surround? I have the surround off but can't get the lighter out of the surround, any help there?

My help to you about taking out the cig lighter--- GOOD LUCK.....:D

I have done it once. You need to take the green plastic part off (you should kinds be able to see through the plastice if its green and see where it is clipped onto the metal) of it from the rear, take the light out first. That is the hard part is that plactice piece I think I bent in part of the metal on the cig lighter to make it easier but it needs to be flat to put it back in. Once the green piece off the cig lighter comes out from the front and if i remember correctly it is clipped in also.
