So over the weekend and at the TNE g2g yesterday, I had taken out one of my three subs to repair it. When I bought the system from my friend, someone had thrown something in the trunk and punctured the sub. He used some epoxy and it worked great! I had planned on replacing the sub all along, just not right now.. well I had pushed it through again (my own stupidity) and took it out, cleaned it up, and siliconed it back together...
We put the sub back in, not relaizing the wires were crossed and it wasnt beating with the others, took it out, switched it, and put it back in. Something still didnt sound right to me, it wasnt hitting as hard as normal. But we kind of played with it. At one point, the volume on the radio was off yet you could still here the subs flickering,. like thump thump thump thump, as if there were a song with bass. Chris said it was just feedback from somewhere but it had never done this before... wierd. I didnt notice it today though.
Now, I'm driving home from work tonight and all 3 subs have completly died and I have nothing.... what would cause this? I'm going to go out after dinner and see if I cant figure out the problem.. all I know is this sucks and by trying to make something better, it appears to be worse

Maybe you messed up your amp when you wired the one sub wrong, although I'm think it's highly unlikely that's the answer. Did you check your ground? Maybe you knocked it loose?

Well it wasnt as bad as it could have been. the ground WAS loose and for some reason, the wires on the inside of the box were completly off, I dont know how on earth this could have happened, but it did, I must have pulled on them enough to make them loose and the drive home must have been that last push to knock em off, who knows... either way.. its fixed!!! and sounds almost the same it did!! Thanks for lettin me rant!

Glad its fixed. LOL, that happened to me once. Everytime I'd take a corner, my subs would shut off. I was like WTF. Turns out, it was a short to ground. The wire to one of my rear fill 6.5's had gotten wedged between the sub box and the rear deck (metal). When I'd take a corner or stop hard, it would get squished between the 2, shorting it out. I found it, taped it up and moved the wire lol
HAHA, well rest assured Jonny if the fooker wasn't fixed by now, Id be out there looking for that sort of problem. Good to have som input though for the future. Thanks!

Yup, my system is becoming more trouble than its worth I think. Its dead.. AGAIN... I checked the ground and its not that... the amp wont kick on, a friend told me to check the fuses so thats first, then I don't know what.... maybe borrow an amp from someone to see if thats the problem. I just gt this amp too, mind you it was used, but I don't think it should have died yet... anyone have any suggestions???

Just let me know.... and remind me... ill be there tonight and will be in Manchester/Londonderry tomrrow

are you getting power? Check with an ampometer or voltometer (I know these have real other names, but I don't know what it is right now). If you are getting power, then check the remote on connection, I'm guessing that unless the amp is cooked (the fuses on the amp should blow before that happens but it happens) that it's one of those two things.

Good thinkin Joe. From what she has been tellin me it seems like she thinks the power is gettin there... the amp just isnt comin on.
Tiff... if you want that amp i can being by my meter too so you could check for power before changin out amps for a check

Do you have a distribution block before the amp? it should be fused at the battery and before the amps. Check all fuses. Can you see the power light on the side of the amp? Also check your remote turn on wire.
The light is not lit. There is a fuse on the amp wire near the battery, thats the only one I still need to check. I checked the three in the amp and they all look perfectly fine. I am going to take the radio out tomorrow and make sure something didnt get pulled loose in back. Otherwise, I'm at a loss for words and dont know where else to go with this... What would you guys do?

I still think you need to check to see if you are getting power, the amp itself may not light up (shouldn't) unless the remote on line tells it to, so you need to manually check the power line to see if you are getting power from the battery. Otherwise it is most likely the remote on line, this is the line that tells the amp to turn on when you turn on your stereo. If you haven't blown a fuse, and you are getting power, I'd bet that is what it is.
Alright well I checked the last fuse on the amp wire near the battery and BINGO!!! There you have it, a blown fuse.. now the quesiton might be, why did it blow? Just a fluke thing? I replaced the fuse and all was well.. thanks for your help everyone!!

Drawing too much power, perhaps when you were working on your ground? or while it was bad, sometimes a bad ground causes the system to leak power and draw more than it should, and then....BOOM! Blown fuse.
