few ?s here. i have a focus four door 2001 unfourtantly i use trunk space for my tools m friday so i cant hog the trunk space, and time to time riders in back seat. i am currently shoppin for new head unit amp and subs i want to feel the bass a little bumps just for personnal preferance.i dont really want to change stock speakers out too, was debating on two 8s on kicker panels or 2 tens in trunk but on the sides to save room, was liking the new alpine h.u infinity amp (someone recommended) and not sure on subs. what i would like is someones oppinion on the 8s and any recommendations on equip thanks alot also any pics of custom installs could be helpful, for space reasons shouldve got the wagon model he he he, thanks to any1 that can take a moment.:drinkheres to ya

To get it to sounds right, you're gonna have to put the subs behind you somewhere, not in the kick panels. I have a kicker 15 and it doesn't really take up that much space. Two 8s or 10s shouldn't take up that much space. Especially in the trunk of a sedan. With my 15 in my zx3 I could still fit a large tool box, a 5 gallon bucket, and a fairly large tile cutter. I made a rack to mount my amo to the side of my trunk so it was out of the way. You could always mount the amp to the box to save space too. Just my 2 cents.

A few people I have talked with have gone subless with good results but it usually takes a lot of work and you need to be pretty knowledgable with EQs and such.

I played with the idea of going subless in my car and using a set of 8" Kicker midbasses in the rear doors as well as a set of kicker components up front. The problem is that you would have to accept the fact that you will not have thunderous bass.

A veryy simple set up you could do would be the following. I have done this in a couple Foci with awesome results.

CD Head unit of your choice, I like Pioneer and Alpine

Memphis Audio MC3004 75x4 amp

6.5" Memphis Audio MClass Multi Syncs up front

5.25" MClass co-axials in the rear off of deck power

Memphis MClass 10" Sub in a sealed enclosure either on the side wall or in a false floor.

I am running a set of 5 1/4 & tweets in the kicks and a 8" JL in a Bazooka nos tube( soon to have Kicker midbasses in the doors) it sounds fine plus the sub is small yet gives me room for work crap. The Amps are above the spare, the processor is in the pass side. Works well for me.

Tim

i would recommend using something like the Infinity basslink, or the bazooka tube shaped like a NOS bottle. They dont take up much space, they have a built in amp, enclosure and sub. Not a bad sound, and they take up very  minimul space. you can go to http://www.crutchfield.com to check them out.
