Here's the deal: My audio in my focus, its the single disc CD player, pretty much the base model for the S-package focus ZX3.  I ABSOLUTELY love the sound, but it is a little lacking in the higher volumes, and an MP3/WMA player is definitely amiss.

Eventually, I would love to upgrade the HU, speakers, and possibly put a 12" sub in the rear if need be.

Here's what I have planned: Pioneer DEH-6700MP HU, Pioneer 4-way 6x8s in the front, Pioneer 2-way 6x8s in the rear, 12" Infinity Perfect sub in a ported bandpass box, and some sort of 200W mono channel sub amp.

My question is this: How hard would be to upgrade all of this? Is there a dash kit out already for the '05 Focus?? Will the HU replacement be absolute trouble?

Any and all help is appreciated, thanks!

With the box, I already have the bandpass supplied, its just at my parents house, I gotta pick it up... but how much would it cost to get a custom box built? I assume I gotta get the MDF and screws, as well as some sound dampening and such...

I know for sure I will need to get some sort of material in the box itself, the box is bare at the moment (used to house a 12" Pioneer sub from a buddy's car). Other than that, it should be good to go.

I might need some help when I get everything purchased to get all the audio stuff installed. If you guys want, once I get the stuff, I can set up a meet, supply a 12-pack and pizza or something?

MDF is all you need. Bandpass boxes are only good for a certain range in frequency.  What other stuff you want installed?  nothing else really....i got screws and glue.....

Sounds like you think a sealed enclosure would be good for teh Infinity Perfect?

How much is MDF nowadays anyways? I might be enticed to build a custom box as opposed to buying a pre-fab ;)

How hard would it be to carpet the box (preferably something similar to the dark trunk lining color I have) ?

What other stuff you want installed

I nearly missed this part of your post.. its just mainly a HU, front/rear speakers, and the sub/amp..

What I would like is as much of a space-saver as possible with the sub.  I don't want to get into fiberglassing tho, just a neat sealed box, possibly mount the amp on that, so on the plus side its convenient for me to take out when I need to.  Plus, cleanliness is key here as well.

Once I get everything priced, figure out how to pay for everything, and purchase it I'll set up the meet (I might be able to do this at my house, who knows).

Any other help/info/advice would be appreciated :D

well the amp can be mounted elsewhere NOT on the box though.....under your seat....on the side of the trunk back of the trunk.....I actually have a small sealed 10 inch sub I just got.....we could model yours after that....let me know what sub you choose and I can design the optimal smallest design....

Boston Acoustics 12.5LF

Diamond

Dayton Titanic MKIII (partsexpress.com) (awesome woofers for the price)

Could you get me the freq. specs on all 3 of those, I want to see how they compare to the Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1.  Or better yet, provide me with linkage as to where I can get the info for this, that would be great as well :D

Well, the perfect is one choice of mine... I would love to go with something that will give quality over loudness (I don't plan to enter db comps if you get what I mean ;) ).

I'll go with anything thats good from Infinity, Pioneer, Kicker, Kenwood, Boston Acoustics, or MB Quart, depends on the price. Same thing with the amp, basically, a mono amp that gives out good power at a reasonable cost.

I still got some price searching to do, plus I gotta mass up the money... I might be able to do something within a couple months, hopefully.

I think you sold me on the Dayton sub, I'm thinking about getting the Quattro series 12".  I don't need a DVC, as I only plan to pump 200W into the thing (from what I heard, its best to match the in-cabin speakers and subs with the same amount of wattage).  Now I need to find an amp :D

The Zapco is sold anyways... I just want one sub anyhow, I want to preserve as much trunk space as possible.
