I *think* there was some mono sub amp I found on crutchfield that I might buy, that should fit into my budget.  So far, I haven't been able to really look into that stuff, but hopefully soon enough I can start saving and buying stuff for the audio setup.

Dude, I hate to do this, but I gotta scrap the plans for now.  Something very unexpected and very unneccessary came into my life, and is gonna cause me some trouble over the next few months, and I won't have the time / money to do anything

Sorry, and thanks for your help!

Trunk space is over rated I havent had a car with trunk space in 3
years, thats why our back seats fold down.  MDF will sound ok. I
would however recomend getting some fiber glass and coat the inside of
the box with it, you will be amazed how much resonance that will
add.  Daytons are ok if your looking for DB but I had never heard
of good sound Q from them but that may be because all the daytons I've
delt with were in my friends 160 DB neon.

But seriously envest in some fiberglass for inside the box as well as a
good amount of bolyfill those will realy clean up the sound and just
make sure the box is to the sub specs.

what are you talking about?  Dayton is all about sound quality.  You just have to have them in a properly designed enclosure. Polyfill does nothing more then take up air space if you build your box incorrectly.
