I would like to start off by saying thank you for all of the suggestions on the navi unit. But I have a new one and I am getting a lot different things being told to me by the local stereo shops were I will be buying the sub, or subs.

The question is should I go with two JL Audio w7 8's or just one JL Audio w7 13 in sub, I will be powering it with a Memphis audio studio D 1100 watt rms amp. What do ya'll think?

well whats your budget? Why go JL?  I got a list of other brands that do well or even better than JL.  Why not Memphis M3's?

no budget, I mean not an unbelievable amount of money but I am going for sound quality, and that is why I am trying the JL Audio. I love Memphis but ..... I have a friend that had a very bad experience with it. I am open to other suggestions and I welcome them.

Resonant Engineering

Dayton DVC (partsexpress.com)

Treo

Stereo Integrity

Incriminator Audio

What happened to your Friends Memphis? (That way i can say it was the gear or operator error.)

Will you be installing it all, building box, wiring etc etc?  If not those are all brands most local shops WONT carry but are a few of the best.  I didnt do more research than that....however  check out http://www.splbassx.com/forums for even more info.  Plus they have sponsors that sell the gear I mentioned except Dayton...But those are the best bang for buck around......:drink

My friends had a single Memphis MOJO 15 on a Rockford Fosgate 1500.1 amp and it went out after like three months. Memphis told him when he tried to send it in for warranty work that even though the power was within its handeling it was pushed to hard and so they put it under abuse and void the warranty on the speaker. I got the amp because I had had one before on two solo baric's and it pushed the hell out of them and stayed cool to the touch wile doing so.

But thank you for the list and will do some research. and yes I am doing all the work myself.

What kinda box and who installed the MOJO?  Even though it was "underpowered" it could have had a clipped signal going to it...thus still voiding the warranty.   :gofast

true, in all the audio stuff i work with (studios and live concert situations) overpowering a speaker does less dammage than underpowering it.

clip hurts

i know a few live engineers that are sure to always overpower their speakers.

Exactly...most speakers are made to handle a littel more than whats rated..but not for long...but clipped signals cause the sub to "pause" on the peak instead of flow...thus creating more heat by not moving but having electricity run through them.  (Like a light bulb) I guess pics would help huh?

(Clipped Signal) Improper Gain Setting

SINE WAVE(Musicical Frequency Unclipped)

well the fact that he had a 1500 watt rms amp running it, it wasn't severally under powered, it was running more than the rms of the sub. The box was maid by the stereo shop were he bought it, and they installed it.

I am having a hard time finding some place that sells the speakers that you put on the list. I have found some and they are reasonable price, do you have experience with these subs.

are those going to have all of the speakers, or just some of them.

I think because of the size of the trunk I am going to go with one speaker so I know that is going to change some things. Same amp though. I have acutely been looking at some hifonics amps. Have you heard anything about them?

Yeah the Goliath series is good all the others have reliability issues... I have a BX1500D and havent had a problem yet even though its a audio forum fact theat crap out on occasion.  Id stick with your Memphis.  You have a sedan?  What are the trunk dimensions?

All of those websites have all of their speakers. BTW
