also depending on whether or not the system has been out once or not, it is possible that a wire gets trapped under the headunit upon reinstall, and makes it nigh on impossible to remove using the flimsy removal tools.  This is the current state of my head  unit, jammed on a wire, and I finally decided that it wasn't worth taking out when the car is almost paid off.
