OK, here's what I got. For our anniversary, my wife got me and "PDB" a pair of 10" sony Xplod's (1100w each) and a 1000w 2-channel Xplod amp. I have a Xtreme Sound (model XB120, mp3 CD player) head unit, and will be getting the install kit.

I want to build my own box. Materials are no object. I just want to hit hard.

My questions are, how big should I make it? What would be the best type of enclosure for maximum "thump"?

Since my h/u has 2 pairs of pre-outs, I'll eventually be adding another pair of subs and another amp, so if possible, I'd like to keep this enclosure on the small side.

Sony reccomends a sealed box size of .6-.8 cubic ft for the sub, but I don't know if that is inside or outside dimensions. I'd like a box with plexi in front, so I can put some neons in there, and mount the amp between the subs and really make it look cool.

Any suggestions?

This is pretty much exactly what I am looking for. I guess I figured it out on my own!

Or is this a better design?

Or are there any other design ideas I should look into? Or would I be better off just BUYING a box?

Plexiglass isnt gonna do much for ya.  I wouldn't sweat that at all.  I would go with fiberglass in all honestly.  The wood will be 3/4 inch MDF (medium density fiberboard) I can design a ported enclosure if you would the best sound????

If its looks then I would go fiberglass....Ill draw and scan some ideas to tonight if you'd like??

Honestly it all depends on if you want to build your own or not...Now that I read the post again.  I would recommend buying a prefab if you aren't the greatest carpenter/upholsterer.
