I believe most of the mods for the 2.3L Duratec will work for the 2.0L Duratec.

They have the same block, just different heads from what I've been told.

I have a MarcyMotorsport CAI on my 2.0L Duratec and it fit just fine.

Is there something in particular you were wanting to get ?

The deck height is also slightly lower.  So that may make for issues with a header, but its unknown.

:driv:shock::X OK I own a 2005 zx3 focus an i notice when you rev it  bit to high an let ur clutch out it dosent engage at all ..so heres the story " i was drivin back from my gf's place an i was playing around with a civic  for awhile an we finaly stopped at a light an he asked if i wanted to go...ok shure w/e we go i get to 3rd already ripped his doors off an i miss shifted 5th an the RPM was way to high (just before fuel shut off) an i i got it in 5th an let it out to fast it stayed like that for a bit almost as if i blew the clutch out of it i put the P barke on an fiddled with it for about 3 minutes an got it to gradualy release it felt like i was pushing my front bumper off tryin tp push the clutch in" is there a safty of somekind or is this signs of my clutch fork an disc self destructing?  car has 4700kms on the clock ....

i do drive hard an very aggressive but usualy behave unless prevoked

I do regret retiring my old 87 chevette for this focus AT LEAST IT TOOK THE ABUSE I THREW AT IT lol

Silex,

I have a new '05 ZX3 w about 2K miles on it. I don't race it but I did notice,  that at higher RPM's not extreme though, if you put it in neutral foot off gas as you approach a stop, the RPM's stay up for a little longer than I'm used to. Engine response isn't immediate in the drop of RPM's. The manual tranny has a little to be desired. I often miss shift but I'm at such a low RPM it doesn't concern me too much. I like the car a lot so far. I got in to a situation that I had to get on it or get run over and smoked front tires and got scratch out of 2nd which really surprised me. For the price I paid (base Sangria Red Metallic '05  ZX3 S, manual tranny, A/C, and single CD stereo-$11K OTD). Going to keep it pretty much stock getting new "15 inch rims in a week, maybe a Borla exhaust system down the road. My other car is a '91 Silverstone Miata in good shape for a 14 year old car, pretty much base car w/1.6L engine. On a curvey road Miata would leave the ZX3 way behind on the straight away the Focus would blow it's doors off on the straight away.  The reason for not handling as well as the Miata is the suspension, the different weight distribution(lower center of gravity). The Focus has a higher center of gravity due to the cars higher height and OEM suspension isn't the SVT racing type suspension.

I hope your ride is OK. The ZX3 is a hybrid Mazda anyway, so pretty durable engine. Later

JT

That's strange. I have the duratec engine, but mine is the 2.3liter. I have great throttle response. But then again I have an Atx tranny ta boot.

As for your revs hanging. I have driven an 03 2.3L duratec andhave not seen this but I also have not driven it to hard as its not mine. My car on the other hand is a 01 2.0L Zetec and the revs hand due to the stock heavy flywheel used. It may be the same situation with your car.

As for the handeling get yourself the SVT suspension and you will be keeping closser to the Miata. I put SVT suspension on my car, Eiback 25mm sway bars and changed all the rubber bushings to eurithane and the car is tight, real tight (I can go from 1 city street to another in 2nd gear without using brakes) but without an excessive drop. But you say you have a 2005. No worries, all 2000-2004 suspension parts will fit the 2005.

I have the 2.3 Duratec PZEV Manual fx3 is talking about and I can drive her real hard.

I've not noticed anything so far as poor throttle response or clutch.

When I say hard - ask anyone in here that knows me...I can beat on my car when I'm in the mood.:driv

Don't know if anyone's seen the new FF Mag, but it has some information on the '05 and loads of hp/torque specs on the duratec engines in regards to intake and exhaust.

Check it out!

Hey thanks for the site Pzevinside, Gives me a Starting point for Parts for my 05' Focus,

Egz,

You mention the slightly lower Deck height, is there anyother thing i should keep in eye out for when switching part from a 03' 2.3l to a 05' 2.0l

if your car has traction control, that might of been it, i know it cought me when i tried to bone out, it felt like it was sputtering then slowed down and then kicked back in, but i dunn o. i know when im on it hard and shifting it seems like the clutch slips alot and when you go to shift and push in the clutch the revs stay up there for a second or 2. and this is just normal driving.
