100,000 miles or the life of the car, but I won't be waiting that long.  I'm not going to touch it yet, but I will be keeping my eyes on my performance.

This can be removed and you can put a cone on.

Its supposed to be 100K and you change the whole box out for a new one. There is a little guage on the side of it and I am guessing when it's all red you need to change it.

I recomend removeing the air box and inserting a cone filter.  I
for one made a full custom CAI for my PZEV.  you may not realize
this but your filter isn't that large black box that you see just
infront of your battery.  thats just the vacume guage, the air
filter box is below that just behind the side signal light.  And
no its not a CAI from the factory.  Infact the car has a snorkle
the goes up in the fender right up by the drivers side door jam. by
removeing this your  getting rid of about 5 feet of inake.
and makeing the engine more responsive and much louder.  you will
also get this nice whistling sound from the inake. realy turns heads.
no one can tell exactly what the sound is from.

Could you post a pic or two or a how to?

I'm interested in ideas for my 2.3.

take a look at K&N.  it's a simple design i'm sure you could figure it out from the pics they have online.

i have a k&n in my 2.3 and it kills.  (people ask if it's a turbo from the sound it makes)

I guess I just want to know what materials were used, PVC, ABS, drier duct, old tp rolls  . . . . I've been looking around the parts places and found lots of different parts . . .:blah and not all of 'em cheap. Livin in the sticks doesn't make it any easier especially when I have an aversion to the city.

Thanks

Rich
