do it now or later it dosen't really matter. to in stall the TB all you have to do is disconnect and mover the air tubing slightly out of the way.
So expensive because of the R&D into them and the CNC machines are so darned expensive to buy and maintain. Not sure if they are actually expensive to run or not. and the biggest reason for expense, because they know thay can get that much money for them. Keep an eye on ebay. I saved a couple bucks on mine that way.
Both items are good buys. IMO the T/B is a easier install then the CAI. Very simple, disconnect the throttle cables and pull intake upper tube. Next remove the 4 torx bolts. Next remove the TPS sensor. Pull off the old T/B and place a rag in the intake manifold to prevent dirt getting in the intake manifold. Attach the TPS sensor to the new T/B (make sure it faces the right direction) Make sure to use a new gasket! Screw the new T/B to the intake manifold, make sure not to tighten it down to much, it will strip out easy! Replace the trottel cables. Oh and make sure the battery is disconnected before you start the removal/install.
To answer your question it's not hard to do either one of the installs seperate or together.
Yes the T/B's are pricey but wait till you get it on you'll love it!
thanks guys, yea i'm sure the install will be easy as i'm pretty handy anyway. i was mostly curious if i'd save alot of time and energy diong them together. but.... i might just space it out for cost reasons.

Shouldn't be to much harder, might actually be easier since it's in the front instead of against the fire wall. CAI might be easier to because of the location.
Sorry I didn't even check the motor. Thanks Chelly.

Nice score there J man - NewEdge is another good one! I'll have to look into that, but hey, I'm very interested on what you think once this is all put together...CAI and TB - I'll have to take into consideration your exhaust mod too.

yea the exaust went on last weekend (did i tell you guys about that already?)
i got the focussport race exaust. and i love it. not quite as loud as most aftermarket cat backs, (wich i kinda like about it) but oh the tone is beautiful. it's very quiet 'till i step on it, real smooth reving up and it crackels when i down-shift, very cool.
as far as the engine feel, it's a very subtle difference. smoother... but i can tell that the stock PZEV is very restricted.

Had on. I had a FC TB that I got for a good price on eBay. I wasn't really impressed at all with it, so I sold it. Sure, its an easy install, but there are no power gains, and the throttle response wasn't really impressive. It just opened more while pressing down on the gas pedal, thus reducing throttle control I had.
Personally, I'd recommend spending that money on something else. A TB will only help futher down the HP road. Limited with the OEM intake manifold, it offers no gains.
The one downfall I've found on the 65mm TB's has been they tend to give so much air so quickly that the car tends to 'jump' a bit until you're used to it and then it still is a bit odd. I think it's more the fact that the 65mm TB is prone to 'sticking' more than the stocker & you have to be careful with what you clean it with and go by the manufacturer's recommendations.
With Dan and I we've both noticed a slight improvement in mpg when we had the 65 on our Zetecs, but with the PZEV who knows...I've not tried one and really don't want to invest in one until I've had more feedback.

People are tempted to want to believe that by changing something, its always going to be for the better, probably because they paid money for it and don't want to hear that its not performing. I know parts interact with other parts, and things may not work as planned. Luckily, most things work out for the better, but not all do.
I try to analyze a product from multiple angles. While bigger is better, there are other limitations in the intake path that reduce the effectiveness. So the MSRP for the HP gain wasn't there for me. Then looking at throttle response, I go on track a lot, and being able to moduate throttle is really critical. They way most aftermarket TBs are engineered, I find that there is a loss in control over the throttle. The first thing I discovered was my heel-toe was completely messed up. Sure I could press less to match my revs, but the level of degree for me to get it there was much narrower.
As for the heal-toe. Ya I have trouble doing it now for the same reason. I got used to the stock zetec and with the TB I have a harder time doing it but i also haven't had much practice. I think I have put 5K on the car in the 2 years sence its been on the car. I also did notice that after putting on my bosal cat back the car seemed to loose power and installing the TB seemed to bring the car back to stock in terms of power and take off. Or it could just be me and the fact that it was a humid summer after installing the cat back and the TB gave it that little extra to make it feel like it had power back.
I can't heel toe on a stock zetec.....don't tink i am ever gonna try racing. If i could heel toe now, i could drive my baby. I miss my car!!! My foot slips off te side of the pedal when i try it and I still can't give the pedals different amounts of pressure to keep it idle until we can fix it. Ah well, still a novice, someday i will get it.

I can, to a degree Heel Toe, but I'm limited - it's a combination of injury and the size of my feet I think. Dan has that little bit, but then again, it's a matter of practice. I drive hwy most of the time and haven't raced yet, but hey, who's to say I won't get it down better in the future, it just takes practice.
As I mentioned and as Egz mentioned, the TB response is different than the stocker and that can make a load of difference when you're racing.
It all comes down to personal opinion. If you buy one, tryit, if you don't like it there IS a market for it.

CAI and TB went on last night. so far, the sound is awesome (especially with the exaust) and the air sucking sound is very cool. the trottle is pretty touchy. and it does feel a little sticky when i coast in gear for a while and then speed up.
i'ma drive it arround today and then i'll say more but, is there anything that can be done about the stickyness? cause it's only happening in that specific situation
i'm gonna play arround with the setscrew that stops the throttle pin at idle position. cause it feels like the flap has a little bit of vacume effect when i coast. see if i can get it not to sit so tightly without idleing too high...

alright, i drove it arround all weekend and i'm totaly anoyed. the throttle body constantly gets stuck open. and revs up when put the clutch in. and totaly messes up my downshifting.
i don't know what to do about it cause the spring feels tight. oh well, it's commin out. i like the fast throttle responce but it's not worth having to deal with it gettng stuck open all the time.
i was gonna ask if anybody else with a duratec wants to try this out, since i have it... (so if you really want to let me know) but otherwise i'm gonna try to return it, cause i don't think it's working right. it shouldn't be sticking open
