This was more of a PITA than needed be. Good old Zetec air boxes...

Thats very similar to the FWI on the Grand Prix (Fender Well Intake). There is an opening where you can shove a properly sized air filter into the fenderwell area and seal it off completely from the engine bay. Ive seen scans of intake air temps just slightly above ambient with virtually no risk in sucking up water. Quite the ideal location in my opinion.
