i have a 2006 ford zx3 my brother has a mazda 6 his motor is 2.3 mine is 2.0. they look the same i was wanting to ask if any body knew who made the motor in my zx3!his motor say's ford on it but mine say's nothing!

get this: last night my buddy showed me a magazine about the new mazda speed 3.   to come out soon i guess, the last in the mazda 3 line.

uses the 2.3l duratec with a nice turbo crankin out 260 or so HP.  very cool.  this engine rocks

And the Focus ST and the Mazda 3 use the identical motor except the Mazda 3 has VCT and the ST does not and the M3 has like 5 more HP than the ST.

And Chelly's 03 2.3L PZEV gets better gas milage than a Mazda 3.

Yep, it sure does - averaging 30+ a tank.  Take off the restriction and I can play with the other models :D

The duratec engines are confusing if you've never experienced them before.  I went from the 2.0 Zetec in my 2k2 to the 2.3 PZEV Duratec in my 2k3 and they look completely different under the hood...they also act differently.  My 2.3 is noticeably different than the 2.0 Zetec, but I've yet to compare the 2.0 Duratec to the 2.0 Zetec.

The Duratec feels sluggish to me. Needs an exhaust and a finished intake maybe? Maybe it just needs nitrous.
