I am the enthusiastic owner of a Pitch Black  06' ZX5 SES 5spd. I am new to the Focus but not to Ford. My other passion is a 89' Mustang GT putting 525 to the wheels. I am a mechanic by trade and a gearhead by choice. I am very pleased to find a site that is all about these great handling cars. I would have loved to get the 2.3L motor in the car had it been available in a hatchback. But as all of you know it isn't. I was looking through my Steeda catalog and saw the Cosworth intake manifold and other "Duratech" parts. My question is, Is the 2.3 motor a stroked 2.0 with the same dimensions as the 2.0 or a complete different block?  Will the  parts fit my car.:driv
I am very familiar with Cosworth and their history with Ford motors. I would love to have their components under the hood.  Also does any body know of a rear disk upgrade for the brakes?

Any aftermarket 2.3 bolt-on parts will fit the 2.0. They are the same on the outside. AFAIK, the stroke is the only difference.

Hey I need to know as well-

Are the cam profiles different?

The blocks are very similiar.  The 2.3l is 11mm taller to allow for the longer stroke.  Thus meaning that the connecting rods are different.

The heads are the same, but flow different.  The 2.3l flows better than the 2.0l.  IIRC, the 2.0l head is the same as the 2.3l Ranger head.

The 2.0l does not have a balance shaft assembly, and likewise, the crank does not have a gear for it.  That saves you $30 since you don't need the delete kit.

That being said, they are the same.  Just about every part for the 2.3l will work on the 2.0l.  However, some are not optimized for the 2.0l.  For example, the Cosworth Intake Manifold was designed for the 2.3l, and the runner length won't produce the same amount of gains on a 2.0l.  It will work, but not as well.

Also, sometime in 2006, Ford reloated the power steering resevoir from the firewall to next to the pump, making preventing the Cosworth intake manifold from being an easy install; additional parts and work is needed.  I think this was a mid-model year change.

I don't have a confirmed answer, but I want to say yes.  Definately the same design, so they are interchangable, but as for the profile, I want to say the are the same too.

FordParts shows two different entries for the 2.0 and the 2.3, but they are the exact same price, so they may be the same.

Thanks for the info. I took delivery in Late Nov ov 05' and  my P/S fluid reservoir  is on the pump. I am interested in maximum air flow for forced induction, so I figured the 2.3L intake would flow enough.
