What would be better a HID conversion kit, or Would just replacing the bulbs be enough? and if just putting new bulbs in would be better, which ones are good?

To really do it right, you'll need to replace the lights. If you're just changing bulbs, a lot of folks like Sylvania Silver Stars.

yea, silver stars are the best halogen you can get, but it's not a major difference from ordinary halogens.  unless your bulbs were blown or wearing out and dim you might not even notice the change if it weren't pointed out to you.

i whent HID conversion last fall and i'll never go back. (new projector lights, ofcourse) it's a HUGE boost in visibility, safety, and they just look so cool!

HID conversions aren't a good idea.  The reflector in the headlight is designed for a halogen light bulb.  When you replace that bulb with a HID unit, the reflector will create all sorts of scatter and inproper cutoffs, giving you less than optimal light output, and blinding oncoming traffic.  Not to mention that its also illegal (or at least there was a bill in motion to ban them)

Unfortunately, there aren't HID units for the 2005+ models that replace the entire headlight.  Your only option is to install 2004 HID units, but that will require a new hood, grill, bumper, fenders, etc...

The best you can do right now is some quality bulbs.  Osram Silverstars (not Silvania with that blue glass), Phillips VisionPlus, etc

is nobody making a projector housing for 05+ yet?  that's a real shame

i got a projector headlamp set (very similar to the SVT euro packedge only in black) and installed an HID conversion kit in that.  works wonderfully.  i know that's not illegal since that's how the some of the SVT's came and i see cars all over the road with HIDs from the factory.  i asume the ones i see that aren't projector style bulbs have modified houseing to make the beam reflect properly.

by the way, what do these two topics have to do with duratec performance?

shouldn't they be moved to exterior styling?
