Im new to this forum and to the Focus life altogether;
I recently purchased a 2005 focus zx5 ses. It sure does drive a lot better than my 1990 Ford Aerostar
I honestly can'tbelieve how many of you people are out here. I have read these posts for days and am still amazed by the amount of incredible info here for my focus.
Here's my question...
I took my air box out to see how it was all put together, it only took me an hour to realize that there isn't an air filter.
While I was removing my air intake I was being as careful as possible, but for some reason my engine light is on now and it wont go away!!
I did unplug the MAF but didn't damage it in any way.
Is there an engine light reset button or soemthing??
I find it hard to believe that something is actually wrong with my engine and this light is giving me a complex.
hmmm... i'll tell you one thing. i did have my dash cluster replaced last year cause of a malfunction in the check engine light. but mine was flickery and would stay dimly on when the car was off. so if yours is steady on, it's probly not this problem.
don't know much else about diagnosing check engine warnings except take it to the shop, hook it up to the computer, and hope it falls under warantee. mine did.

I highly recommend going to your local Auto Zone, if you have one near you and have them run the code. it's free and it will give you a place to start.
did you plug your maf back in properly? all wires are as they should be?
have you re-fueled since?
The focus is a bit of a cultish car - nearly like the VW beetle, though some will debate. There is infinite amounts of info out on the www along w/ not so good info. be careful where you look and always - HAVE FUN!
