Talk to Gerry Dedonis from Kansas racing products. I have talked extensively with him and he has both the zetecs AND the duratecs. The zetecs are a grand and I think the duratecs are too. All BRAND NEW ford surplus. Tell him I sent you, he said he'd give me a comission. :P

Good news for me! Randy from focus sport finally got back to me. He's selling me a PATS disabled ECU for 125$  Just saved me almost 300$

I should have my Motor by early October, barring any monetary catastrophe........ (knocks on every piece of wood in the house)

http://www.kansasracingproducts.com/  Thats KSGERRY from the Jet. He dosent have those motors listed on his page but believe me he has them. They are also COMPLETE motors. they come with the sensors and the harness, raila nd injectors. The only parts missing are the alternator, ECU, and starter.

Talk to caleb about the extra parts you might need like the flex pipe, oil pan and windage tray (for zetec swap, gerrys zetecs are from escapes and have different op and WT) alternator, starter......... I talked to him yesterday and hes gonna pick thru him and Jim's junkpile and see what I might be able to use. Im sure he'll let them go for less than you could find anywhere else. his email is phrasedefiner@hotmail.com

I'll post my shopping list with prices and sources later today. Ive got the swap price down to about 6K now.

i'm switchin to manual. i was lookin at v6's and i don't know what the heck would be good. i'll probably just try to go with the duratec i guess. i really want a v6 simply because i feel if i'm gonna do it, i might as well go balls to the wall (without going v8 that is lol) , but i can't find a good one for the swap. :(

steve's slow. he'll show up when he starts thinkin he'll realistically be able to do it. :D

you'll have to email that guy on the jet that just finished his v6 swap and find out what parts you need. I basically know but I dont know if you can use your focus drive axles or if you need the contour ones.

I think Ford is pretty dedicated to the V6. I know the I6 is the best balanced engine but I dont know if its worth the effort of custom fabing mounts and and pioneering a swap from a foreign motor.

If you are going with the duratec 6, you need to know a list of parts that are needed to make it work. Like, what mounts you need, which halfshafts are right, do you need a pats?

Caleb told me hes got an alternator, starter, belt, and compreser for zetec, so my parts train is on its way in.

Looks like you got a pretty good list working there.  I had a few questions, and thought I could offer up some advice.

1.)  Why do you have a side motor mount listed?  It's not a bad idea to replace all 3 but you don't have to do it right away.  Focus Sport sells a complete set of motor mounts.  That is one of the next things on my short list.

2.)  As for the clutch, if you want to wait in it you can.  I'm still using my stock clutch and am pretty hard on it.  Wait a little while, the  stock one will last longer than you think.  Also a stage 2 will suit your needs better than a stage 1.

3.)  You have a flex-pipe listed, I assume you are getting a 3" one.  You will want a full 3" exhaust to let the turbo spool faster.  I have gotten all of my exhaust stuff from Trubendz.com.

4.)  Unless you really like that boost gauge from nopi you can get them for alot cheaper.  I have a Autometer boost/vacuum and it was like $50.  A boost/vacuum is better than just a boost because it will help make sure there are no vacuum leaks.  I posted a few pictures of mine in the interior forum.

5.)  You'll also want some new spark plugs, 1 step colder is what Tom recommends.  I'll give you the part number; Motorcraft AZFS22C

side mount is listed because the SPI uses a different mount than the zetec.

I didnt realize I had the stage 1 clutch priced, I'll change it to stage 2. I dont have an MTX-75 clutch so there is no stock one to re-use.

If you can point me towards an autometer boost gauge for 50 bucks Id be much obliged. the one I priced from nopi is the white face autometer.

Exhaust should be on the list so I'll add it.

In case you didnt notice, I am switching from a manual SPI to a manual zetec, thats why I have stuff like alternator, ECU, and side mount on there.

about how much would the 1.8t swap cost do you think? i read a little bit about those engines and it seems like it would be a more reliabe longer lasting swap.
