Yep, I am new. Browsing looking for information. Would appreciate any help I can get.

I have a 2000 SE 4 door. The driver side lock is broke in the locked position. Nobody has been able to open it. They have tried.

Dealer told me that the part would be around $200. and that I could not use one from the junkyard. And if I get the part how do you get the door open.

The key fob does not work, nor does just pushing the lock button. The passenger side locks manually. The back doors do not lock at all. Also, the trunk release button on the dash does not work.

In sight anyone?

Thanks

With a key FOB I am guessing you have power locks.

what did ford say it needed. If they just told you "a $200 part" I would not go back to that dealership. I am taking it that you payed them to look at the car to see what was wrong. If you did not pay them and a guy just looked at it for 2 minutes than he is guessing at what is wrong.  If you did pay demant to know what part needs to be replaced.

I would start with a new power door lock switch if that is what is broken. If it is the part near the door handle than I would replace that first. Go to a junk yard and get the part you need. use the junk yard car to practice taking the door panel off. You will need to take the plactic off that holds the window switches(if power) and door lock switch. There is a plactis round cover over a screw at the inner door handle. after that swrew is out pull from the dash end and to get the rear off pull our and back at the same time. Next is the door panel. I have never taken this off but I am guessing take the swrews off the ends and than pull the panel off. Maxx should be able to help you. He just replaced the regulators in the rear doors of his car. (your welcom Maxx:D)

I had the car in to the dealer to do the latest recall work. I asked him to look at the door. All I really wanted was him to open it. I am not enjoying crawling through the passenger side. I am 6' I keep bumping my knees.. chuckle.

I am thinking he said it was the door lock that was broken. It was awhile ago. He didn't look inside the door because he didn't get it open.

You can take the door apart while it is locked shut? Are there not screws on the ends of the door panels, where I can not get to because the door is stuck shut.

I should find a wrecker driver and see if he can use one of those slim jim thingies, or whatever they are called. But I am cheap.

Thanks for the info on the junk yard. I kinda thought he was full of the stinky stuff when he told me that.

If you're an auto club m(AAA) member, they'll do it for you free. You might also try calling the police. The local cops in most cities around here will use a slim-jim to let you in, if you're locked out. Be prepared to prove that you own the car.

I femember when AAA was unlocking my car once. As he had the slim jim in the car he said that these were fairly hard to open and that he's seen a few windows break when trying to unlock them. don't knw if he was scaring me or tellin the truth.

Yes the door has to be open to take the door panel off.

can the door lock move at oll from the inside??? If so I say have someone hold the luck unlocked and try to open the door while someone on the outside uses the key to unlock and try to open from the outside.... It might work.

sounds like the lock solenoid is broken. Any solenoid should work. so you push the unlock and every door but that one unlocks?

need to get that door open to do anything about it unless you want to cut the door panel off. get a slim jim and a spreader or call pop-a-lock.

where is spring, TX? Im in San Antonio.:D

None of the locks work when I push the button.

I am not a member of AAA but might just to get my door unlocked. chuckle... Was thinking about it anyway.

I told my friends that I found a web site with people who actually like their focus..:D  Just  kidding. Once I get all the bugs worked out of it, it is a good little car.

TXFO, do you know if I need to have that door open for the car to pass inspection?

Spring is just north of Houston south of Conroe, in Montgomery county.

There is one other thing about it. When driving and I let off the gas when I accelerate the engine revs and then rest of the car catches up and I feel a jolt. Is this a transmission problem?

lemme check my manual about the locks. if none of them work then it sounds like a relay or some module.

as far as I know, doors opening are not part of the inspection criteria.:D

i'll post back soon, after I consult the bible.

check fuse F63. thats a 20amp fuse for the central locking module. If none of the locks are working then there is a problem with the CLM most likely.

it is located right on top of the ECU, under the passenger kick panel.

ECU = Engine control module (computer)

CLM = central locking module (controls the power locks and alarm)

both of these units are kept together behind the passenger side kick panel. the CLM is the smaller one on top.

I could not find the F63. I found it in the manual and it says that it is "on backside of fuse panel". I crawled in there. Could not see anything.
