I just got home from playing a gig. When I was done, I threw the horn in the car, started it, & went to shift into reverse. The shift lever only moves straight forward & straight backwards. There's no friction...it just flops back & forth. The car is in 4th gear. I was able to drive the 20 miles home by slipping the hell outta the clutch when I had to stop & start. Fortunately, I only got a couple of red lights.
I have a Ford Racing short shifter. My guess is the cable has slipped off or broken. There was no warning of any impending doom. I'll have to take a look at it tomorrow. Anybody got any ideas?
