so,
my SVTf seriously crapped out over the weekend
on a trip up to Portland (Maine) and back.
the symptoms are Legion.

still under warranty,
so car went to the dealership monday morning (8am).
they still haven't called with a diagnosis.

's times like this i'm thankful
for the free rental i get
with my SVT ownership
and for the fact that the dealership has a rental desk
right on site.

its also times like this
that i'm not very thankful
they only had one car left,
a Freestar. *weep*
it takes this thing 1/2hr to warm up and create heat.
just in time for a cold snap.

when they finally hit me with some details,
i'll put them up here
so that if you start to notice these things
you can rush it right in
and not wait like i did
(things went downhill very very fast).

Sorry to hear about your problems man. At least it's still under warranty though. Make the best of the minivan while you have it. You can fit more in the van then the focus, so it will make a great christmas shopping vehicle if you're not aready done it. Also, minivans doing burnouts are always cool! Do it and send us some pics!:caution

Sorry to hear about the car.  Did you take the car to Tasca?  If so I'm sure they will have the car back up and running soon.

So.

apparently i sucked water into my CAI
and rusted out the throttle sensor.

guess i'll be buying a water shield.
i can't even begin to think of when this would have happened
i think i'd have heard
if i was pulling water
while the car was running, no?

and,
they're claiming
that the rattling i get in the trannie
while above 6000rpm's in second gear
is my after-market exhaust,
not the trannie.
so,
i get to fight with them about that one
because that's been going on since before the cat-back
was installed.

i think this is the last time i take the car
to the dealership.
or at least that dealership.

Sveet03 had the same problem but he knew he sucked in water. He was banging his head to figure out what it was, me also, and finally he found his stock one and the problems went away.

As for dealers that may be a good idea. Remember the good service centers could be right around the corner or you may have to travel an hour or so. A good service dept is hard to find and when you find it keep it.

well,
warranty == dealer.
especially on an SVT.
but if they're going to start chalking up
every single problem i have
to my two stupid mods
then i've got no warranty to speak of, anyway.

after the holidays
i'll take it back and make them check the trannie.
they owe me that much.

OK,
they aren't blaming the rattle on the exhaust.
they're saying that its the heat shield.
supposedly 2nd gear at 6000rpm's hits a ressonance
and that's what's rattling.
supposedly they checked the trannie and everything's tight.
supposedly.

of course,
the car's still idling too high,
and if i take it out of gear
at say 3000rpm's
instead of dropping to idle revs,
it stays where it was,
so its going back to the shop
when i get back from the holidays.

If you hada water in the TPS I would say check the filter to make sure its dry and replace if needed. Also I had Sveet03 clean the inside tubing of the CIA to get out any fine diry particles in there. Also try and clean or have ford replace the MAFS and also check the throttle body for dirt or the such. A speck of dirt or fine layer could keep the TB open just enough to cause your problem. Also the TPS is bolted right to the TB so that may actually be the case. If water got in there it brought dirt with it.

If I'm scaring you I don't mean to.

no,
its fine.
mostly i'm just annoyed they haven't done all this already.
i mean,
if you're going to take the whole thing apart
to do all this work,
wouldn't you clean it while it was open?

ugh.

Yea definatly sounds like a the same problem. Chris didnt want to bring his back to the dealer bc of the CAI, and what not and listen to them bitch about how it was the mods.  I remember he took his whole cold air apart and cleaned the TB and even replaced the MAFS. Dont get too frustrated, I know it sucks, but it will get fixed.

the problem for me
is that i have no space
to do this kind of work on my own
and no tools to do it with if i did.

one downside of renting instead of owning a house, i guess.

I have space and a decent collection of tools and you cannot be more than a half hour away, I'm willing to help a fellow TFNE'er out. I have done a fair amount of work, like installing intakes, tb's and exhaust parts and am willing to give some time in the evening or weekend to help you out.

this is a zetec that sucked up water thru the CAI. that piece sticking out is the number 2 rod. get a bypass valve for your intake and be damn sure that there is no water lingering in that engine. change the oil too.

i always forget i'm not the only RI'er on here.
since the dealer has stopped returning my calls,
this may need to be the approach i take.
i don't think i'm free this saturday,
but i'm always free on sundays.
are you free this sunday?
