If you could change anything about the Focus, what would it be? Lets not talk about styling here.

I've got a couple of nits to pick:

I'd like it if the rear glass would open independently from the hatch, on 3/5 door models.

I'd like to find a solution to that ridiculous console, esp. the arm-rest. It's not in my way, but it could hold lots more than it does, and should also be upholstered.

I also like to have an under-seat storage tray. There's plenty of room there.

I like the idea of having a 4 cyl, but it could certainly have more power.

The power windows should have express up as well as down, on both sides.

The fuel filler should be on the left side, as God intended.

There should be a 5 or 6 spd tranny for the atx models.

OK, I'm gonna stop here for now. What are your thoughts?

I would make the mileage better[ i get 23-24 on the highway:(]

Express windows down

turbo option or supercharger

HID(good color like BMW has)

better quality parts(the middle rear llight sucks)

A good idle, and good electrical system

Better cupholders

and the list goes on

The rear glass poening indpenently from the hatch is a good idea.

Some sort of limited slip would be nice. My inside front does a lot of spinning when I'm driving hard.

Express down and up on all windows would be nice to have.

And with all of the electrical problems in my car, better wiring would certainly be nice. But I guess thats what I get for owning a first year car. ;willy

a better designed rear end suspension. With all those pesky alignment items made adjustable. It seems silly to buy a car that you can't adjust the rear alignment much.

Although I'm not really complaining...I'd just like to have my car running and undamaged right now:

1 -I'd like to find a solution to that ridiculous console, esp. the arm-rest. It's not in my way, but it could hold lots more than it does, and should also be upholstered.I'm right there with ya Mr. V - I've been annoyed by it since day one.

2 - Side windows in the hatch 3dr open like a minivan. you know...fold open with a hand lever

3 - better fuel milage - Id say more power, but that would be redundant.  I'd take the milage over power.  One can always build up the power in this car IMO

4 - Alignment issues seriously need to be addressed - as well as the suspension all around.  I don't think they cared too much in quality there.

5 - Better sound system.  No skipping CD's, no eating CD's, no farting out speakers (If you can crank the volume to 25 the speakers better be able to handle it!)

6 - re-locating the oil filter so you don't coat the frame and other parts when changing the oil

7 - HID package for the stock cars, not just the special models.

8 - Upgrade the electrical system.  I'm not sure what's up with the Focus in general, but at Idle you can see my lights dim and brighten and when the A/C is on it completely kills power.

9 - Make the damned cabin air filter easier to get at!  I've ripped the hell out of my knuckes far too many times!

10 - For the Manual TX - less plastic parts so they don't break

oh, and do something about the cup holders.  I agree - too close to the center dash and they aren't even equal.

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh............................ that a factory design. It was made that way so that the inferior passenger side CV joint would get lubed every 5000 miles.

I want less recalls so that I don't wonder about every little squeak and rattle.

The seatbelts could be a little easier to reach AND be outta the way more when the window is down so it doesn't flap like a hummingbird.

A better quality button for the hatch so it'd work better. Mine has to be pushed SUPER hard.

I concur on the armrest thingie.

I would also pay extra for a "high quality" package which contained better plastics and clips for them and extra bits to make it so the inside will not EVER creak or rattle or make weird noises with age.

That stinkin oil filters STUPID!

OH!!! And my BIGGEST gripe. That freakin RETARDED engineer who designed the valve cover and gasket needs to be TERMINATED!!! I've never seen such a horribly designed valve cover gasket deal.

I thought of another one: Seatbelt retractors that actually work. This seems like something that Ford is totally incapable of designing. Of all the Fords I've ever owned, (6 or 7) the retractors haven't worked worth a damn in any of them. It's just one of those little, everyday annoyances that are like having a raspberry seed in your wisdom tooth.

I stole this from another forum, but I thought it was a very good idea. Make the rear seat bottom so that it splits like the seat backs do. That way you could fold one side flat if you needed to.

Better seats in front
Rear Hatch Glass to open seperate from hatch
Better rims
Standard 4wheel disc brakes
I would say gasmilage, but don't have that problem.
Decent Sound System. 6 disc in dash CD player/changer that actually works properly
Factory 6speed wiper switch
And optional ST-170 headlights or Optional MACH HID's
Alot less recalls

My biggest pet peeve about this car...

That god damn extra wipe with the wipers when you clean the windshield. SO ANNOYING!!!

I would love to see the independant rear hatch glass, express windows up and down all doors, armrest-just needs to go, headlight options (ive spent the money to upgrade-Ford should offer it)

Obviously more power...:driv
