so, i found out that i have 2 bent wheels on my 17s..no biggie, $h*t happens. go to have them dismounted to see if i can work on them..no way in hell is that happening. talking with someone who knows the ins and outs of the focus, he mentioned that a lot of the factory wheels are weak and very succeptable to dinging and denting and warping. i posted over at FF to see what they had to say, and have already gotten a couple replies of complaints from others on the 5 spoke SVT wheels...hmm...coincidence?? i think not. i think Ford just found another weakness in their line of cars, but at the same time forces their consumers to spend more money to get them replaced since they are not covered under warranty.

whaaaaaaateverr:fu

They are crap - just like I've said before.  Every last one of them are an alloy mix that is just too soft.  Even the 15's will dent, warp and even rip if hit just right.

I have a beautiful pair of s2's but 3 of them aren't true round.  Damned potholes!;tim

Sorry about the wheels man...that really sux

I meant to tell you last time we spoke.  There's an Audi A4 I see up in Concord all the time and this guy has some 16 or 17" steelies painted YELLOW/ORANGE on a white pearl car.  I have to say they look odd, but cool at the same time for winter rims. ;diploma

I'm surprised...I thought they were pretty strong wheels..especially for what they weigh.  I've had mine for a few years now, through Maine winters and no problem.  Now that I have the Euros for summer, I'm less carefull with the stock...I may sell them and buy a set of SSRs...thinking about it...where's Joe, he's always looking for wheels..What do you think of these...

Those SSR's are so hot you could melt the panties off a nun.

Most quality aftermarket wheels are made of a much stronger alloy. You always have to take into account offset though. Wheel offset seems to play a hugely important role on the Focus and it's ability to shred through tires like Mini-wheats through your colon. I was trying to get SVT wheels just so I could have the correct offset. I have O.Z. Racing F1-Cup wheels, which seem to be nice and strong, and fairly lightweight. Those SSR's are still the cat's meow though.

these are 2 of my choices, the rs-7's would be of the anthracite finish, the first set as seen in the photo.  after finding out the cost to get rims "un bent" it looks like a new set for me...now its 17..or 18

there was a guy on Focus Fanatics who tried to sell me his Enkei's but the offset was 35mm which is way to low for my car. Considering I have 42mm offset now, and I'd almost prefer having more offset like the SVT has. From what I've gather about this offset crap, the smaller number is moving the wheel out away from the hub more, so those would stick out worse compared to mine, and mine are borderline on the bubble as it is.

Chris i think those first ones would look awesome on your car, but with them being on backorder, do you have time to wait for them ? Whats the quickest you could get them in?

The second ones are nice as well, but i would still push for the first ones. If need be and you can get them by like.... May, I'll let you keep my wheels until then...

I like the SSR's the best. My next choice would be the Enkei RS7 in silver. I don't like the Tenzo's at all. For that matter, I've never seen a black or dark colored wheel that I likes. If I was going to pay hundreds for new wheels, I want people to be able to see them. IMO, black just makes your wheels disappear. Highly polished or chrome are too bling bling for my taste.

I nailed a section of broken pavement a few years back and it destroyed BOTH of my passenger side wheels. One looked like Barry Bonds took a dose and beat it in with a Louisville Slugger.

I have the Pro Race 1's too and only use them in the summer.  They will dent easier than the stock wheels because they are aluminum.
