Hello everyone!  Thought i'd intro myself and ask a question that i couldn't find a topic room for..my name is Marsha, i'm 26 yrs. old and live in NW Indiana...any neighbors?  I don't currently have a ford focus, as you can see from my user name, i'm waiting on the Saleen Focus for my first...though for the collector quality and for showing, not for the NOS system it comes with.  I will drive it, but it won't be a daily driver...at least not in bad weather or in winter.

I do however have a few Ford's already, a black `01 Escort ZX2 and a white with calypso green pinstripes `98 stepside Ranger XLT.

So, now that i have my intro out of the way, here's my question:  Does anyone know when the Saleen Focus is supposed to come out?  Last i read in MuscleMustangs and Fast Fords, it was described as a concept car...but, other than that i haven't heard anything else on it and the searches i have done online come up as future sites with no info what-so-ever...i found one webpage where someone in CA says they have one, but  I asked my cousin who works for a Ford dealership and he hasn't heard anything about them yet and only guesses that they are being introduced out there and may eventually make their way out here...does anyone have any insight or know of when they may be coming out?

Thanks! :)

Marsha

I hate to break the news to you, but I highly doubt it will be released as any type of a production model. Especially with the body style change the Focus just went through. I'm pretty sure it's going to end up staying a concept. Sorry... BUT... Welcome to TF! :)

Welcome to the team and as the rest of the fellas said...it's not being produced by Ford.

You can modify one with the kit et al.

Best of luck and thanks for posting!  Post more!!!

Thanks everyone!  :)  I feel pretty dumb now, but i'm learning which is why i came here to begin with.

The article i read really made it sound like Ford and Saleen were teaming up and producing it together...but i guess not.  They even mentioned interior and exterior colors you could order on it straight from your Ford dealer.  Well that's a little disappointing but maybe i'll just get an SVT instead.

So, now another question.  lol  What is the probability of Ford allowing me to order a new(well when SVT starts producing again in `06, they are going to start in 06 again, right?)SVT Focus ZX3 with an older color?  I would really like one in Lazer Red and not the Infra Red color they have out now, which is similiar but not what i want.

Thanks everyone

Marsha

Welcome to TF...I'm not sure if we will see a new SVTF..You may be better off finding a SVTF w/a Euro Package..

Thanks! :)

But i really wanted to order one, so i could get exactly what i wanted and know that it has been driven nicely....besides it's really expensive to ship a car and driving out to pick one up would not only put tons of miles on it(b/c i don't have access to a flatbed), but also just won't work as i wouldn't have anyone to go with me.  Thanks anyways though. :)   I did check them out and they are nice looking, just not the color i'm looking for.

Besides i'm really picky when it comes to used vehicles and buying one without seeing it first or test driving it first isn't something i'm comfortable with.  And then there's the colors, i really want a lazer red one.

I guess i'll just wait it out, i wasn't planning on getting a vehicle until 2006 anyways, so i'll see if Ford comes up with anything new.  If not, then maybe i'll look into used SVTF's, but i'm picky about everything from whether it's been smoked in to scratches in the paint to how many miles are on it and it has to have a 6-disc changer.  It's hard for me to find a used vehicle i'd be comfortable buying(that's how i ended up ordering my ZX2), and that's why i don't have the 1986 Mustang GT i want.

I basically look for ones that have been responsible adult owned/driven and not driven much.  I mean i'm ready to get rid of the `01 ZX2 i have b/c it has over 15,000 miles on it, though not much over, and it's 4 yrs. old.  My dad says i look for show cars and basically that's true.  If it has a scratch, even if it's small, i don't want it..if my vehicles end up with scratches as they all do from driving, i want it to happen when it's in my possession, not buy it already there.  I know i'm picky, but i'm not willing to settle, either.  :)

Thanks and i didn't mean to ramble, it just sort of all came out.  Someday i'll end up with the Focus of my dreams, maybe.  lol

Marsha

Hi. Welcome aboard!

As far as I can recall, the Lazer Red and Infra Red are the same color, they just changed the name for some reason.

If you want a Saleen Focus, find the local Ford dealer in your area that takes orders for and sells Saleen's. I like the blue one myself.

About the Mustang GT....why would you want an 86? Just curious. The 86 was still a Speed Density motor, 88 was the first year of the Mass Air :)

Hello.  My parents have a Ford Explorer that is infra red, and to me it doesn't look the same.  Maybe there's a slight difference or maybe i'm thinking of the wrong color.  I always thought lazer red was a reddish-magenta color.  And the infra-red is definately more red..it has a very slight magenta color to it, but not like i remember lazer red being.  As for the 1986 mustang GT, i just like them.  I love the double headlights, i know other years had them too, and just in general i like the mid-early 80's.  My brother has an 89 GT, so i don't have anything against any of the fox bodies, i just like the 86.  :)  I like all mustangs, with the exception being the 94 type body styles.  The retro style of the new ones are great, i just don't care for the 94 type bodies(with the exception of the Mystic Cobra!).

Welcome Marsha!!

Freedom Ford in Clearwater FL took delivery on #21 Saleen N2O two weeks ago.

It has nice lines with the body effects and interior touches but I'd be afraid that I'd be uncorking the bottle and voiding the warranty.
