I'm looking at a 2000 focus with 94252 miles.  What should I look at for wear and tear.  And also how does the ATX and motor last on a normal basis.
Any Info would be great thanks :)

byt the way its a ZX3

If you don't plan on modding the car at all, an ATX is just fine, and will hold up for a long time.

Look for an 01+......

;jkm

Just look for the normal things: pulling when driving, excessive rear on inners or outers of tires, oil leaks, other fluid leaks, body panel allignment (from possible damage), body panel irregularities (from possible damage), rear wheel bearrings, irregular motor sounds (you will hear a slight tapping sorta sound from the fuel injectors firing), make sure the tranny shifts fine, listen to the power steering for any weard sounds, shocks and struts. Just basicly the normal stuff you would look at.

You might want to check the rear hatch over the liscense plate for rust. It will sometimes start rusting from under the tailgate lift handle (sedan and zx3).

The motors should last  long time provided the proper maintenance was kept. There are plenty of Focuses out there with well over 100K on them.

Also my cousin owns a tranny shop and said he has repalced a few Focus auto trannies. The manuals are pretty much bullet proof and FYI they are a bit stronger than the SVT 6 speed manual trannies.
