Thinking of maybe switching from mobil1 to amsoil. Is there anything i would or should do? should i continue using k&n filters? would i need to do an engine flush, even though it would just be a synthetic brand swith (dammit, now i got a keyboard lisp!)? could anyone tell me the oil and filter cange intervals?
almost forgot... 02 svt, 50,000miles, jrsc

goinloco, well as far as what you should do, nothing special really. Since you have been using Mobil 1, doing an engine flush is going to be a judgement call. Would I do it? At 50,000 miles, probably so just because the cleaner you can get the internals, the better. I use Amsoil's engine flush during every oil change, though far and few between they have been, to me its just another tool to keep things running smoothly and its not expensive.
I would certainly not use K&N oil filters, if you are going to switch to Amsoil, go ahead and use theirs, you would need an SDF-34 oil filter (2ea.) and 5W30 oil (5qts). For Amsoil you are going to be able to go 25,000 or 1 year on the oil before having to change it. The oil filters will last ya 12,500 miles or six months. So basically if you switch to Amsoil and thier oil filter you will only have to go under the car one more time to change the oil filter at the 12,500 mile or six month mark, which ever comes first.
I have a customer in Tulsa that has an SVT and has faithfully been running Amsoil since his first oil change and loves it and refuses to use anything else.
Give me some history on your maintenance thus far, I know you've been using Mobil 1, but how often are you changing it. If you have been changing it between 3000 - 5000 miles you will definately save money with Amsoil, not to mention better wear control. If you have been taking it to a quick lube place and having them change it with Mobil 1, you're going to save a TON of money with Amsoil.
With the Supercharger you dont have much concern from heat as you do with a turbo. Turbo's are hard on oil period because of the heat, but with a supercharger you wont have to take that into consideration so much on your drain intervals.
Hope this answers your questions. If not, post them up and we'll do all we can to get you the answers.

It whines a lot, but I like it
I was going to mention that with a turbo its recomended to change 3 times the normal drain time(being 9-15K). But I wasn't completly sure about a SC. Actually if the SC is not cooled by the oil or if the oil does not go through it than it should not be an issue. Thats the only thing I would be worried about.
You should be fine with Amsoil no matter what you drive.
