Well I finally got it done today.  I got my remote transmission filter installed.  I used an Amsoil BMK-14 Single Remote Filter mount and an SDF43 filter.  The thing is mounted horizontally, which it will work fine that way, but I had hoped for a vertical mount.  I was going to mount it up with the dual remote bypass system for the oil, but I plan on getting an AMSoiler berfore long and Im going to need the room for that.

So I relocated the horn and mounted the BMK-14 there.  I didnt have to drill or cut a thing and its up high enough there that I wont have to worry about rocks or anything hitting it.  Also, because the mounting points lined up so well I didnt have to do any drilling or anything, I just bolted it up and ran the lines to it then to the cooler.  It added about 3/4qt of fluid to the system.  Not a big increase but with a 7qt overall capacity any additional fluid is going to be nothing but good.  I was going to use a SDF15 filter but figured that would just be a tad bit overkill so I used the SDF34.  And since it can be used as the oil filter, anyone setting this up can just order extra.

I dont know how often I will change it just yet, I'll figure that out from fluid analysis, but I would say that if I changed it once a year I would be in good shape.  The only thing I wish I could do is delete the filter in the pan.  If I knew how to drop down the pick up tube there enough to get the fluid up to the transmission I would do away with that thing.  I may just yank out the felt in that filter the next service and leave it at that.  The filter in the pan isnt even going to come close to the filtration abilities of the external filter.

I'll try and get some pics of it.  I was going to do a step by step install but it ended up being so ridiculously simple to do that short of showing the mounting holes I used and bolt sizes there wouldnt be a lot to show or tell.

I am going to try and find one of those heat sinks for oil filters and install that on there for some additional cooling since its mounted horizontally I can probably drop the fluid temp a few more degrees.  Heck, even another 5 degrees would be significant when it comes to tranny fluid.

At this point I believe Ive done all my knowledge knows to do to keep that tranny in good shape.  I got the shift controller, synthetic fluid, aftermarket fluid cooler and now the external filtration.  I dont know what else could be done short of not driving it.

At any rate, that was my project for the weekend.  I started with a list of about 8 things I needed to get done before I go to Florida and Im down to two things left.  Not bad in three weeks.
