This is from a customer of mine.  He has used Amsoil XL 7500 ever since he turn 3000 miles on the Odometer.  He competes in Autocrosses and this oil sample had 2 Autocrosses on it that amounted to about 13 runs.  He competes pretty seriously and finished second overall last season.

He does about 60% city driving, lots of stop and go and 40% highway.  He's using a K&N drop in panel air filter.  I spoke with him after getting these results and told him that he may be able to do 10k OCI's.  He's using an SDF34 oil filter and has since 3000 miles and is pretty fanatical about getting the oil and filter changed right at 7500 miles, but on this one he had to let it go a little due to time contstraints.

This oil surprised the heck out of me I dont mind telling you.  TBN is off the chart for an oil with 7500+ miles and have competed in autocrosses.  His silicon levels, though not abnormal or detrimental in anyway are what I would consider just a tad high for this motor and I have recommended he clean the air filter more frequently.

His wear numbers are just unbelievably low for the type of driving he does and Id say he could get them down a couple more points if he could get the silicon level down to around 6 or 7 ppm or less.  I would have liked to have seen Nitration and Oxidation levels just to get a base line but Oil Analyzers is redoing their test gear and those numbers were not available.

I would have to say that with his viscosity at 9.6 that Oxidation and Nitration arent a problem at all, though it is on the low side of a 30W and I think probably thinned just ever so slightly and that probably a result of autocrossing and the heat from that.

Im quickly coming to the conclusion, that aside from a thickening issue with the Series 2000 (for which I found a solution), that Amsoil just simply knows how to make oil.   Their numbers seem to be pretty consistent across the board.  This guy was my VERY first Amsoil customer and I told him a goal of mine was to get his SVT to 500,000 miles with no trouble and I have to say with numbers like this UOA is showing, I have no doubt he will get there.

Thanks for this information. I used Amsoil once to see if performance was enhanced. With the type of driving I do, Nothing was noticable but I felt secure knowing I could go 7500 miles before the next change.

The analysis you posted in good information as well as your recommendation for more frequent filter cleaning but I was wondering if there's a chart anywhere for what may be considered the high and low range values for the analysis (or if it's even necessary to worry about the low values and only be concerned about the high ranges).

The only place I have seen such a chart was in the Amsoil Oil Analysis training courses I took and even then they were pretty broad based.  You might try and do a google search and see what you can come up with.

If I can find anything I'll post it up or if I can get the Amsoil chart into the forum and it still be understandable (formatting and all) I'll see if I can get that done.
