I have sold my share of the foam filters Amsoil carried particularly after people saw I was running one myself and could show the oil analysis results of how little dirt got into my motor.

I have run a retro fitted TS-191 for over two years now and have always loved it.  It was one of only two items I scavenged from my Focus, the other being the by-pass filter system and installed on my Grand Prix.

When Amsoil came out with the EaA line up I swore loyalty to my foam air filter.  I was initially skeptical about the air flow from a filter that was capable of trapping so much dirt.  When Amsoil came out with the cone filters with the same filter media I did begin to consider using one and keeping the foam filter for track runs.

In the mean time a customer came to me and wanted to order a EaA filter for his Dodge truck.  I got it for him and stressed to him that I was extremely interested in his thoughts on the filter whether they were good or bad and if he was really dissatisfied with the filter I would buy it back from him.

Fast forward a couple weeks.  The guy comes to me today and pulls me aside to talk to me.  He proceeds to sing some mighty praises for the new filter.  He stressed two things to me.  Very noticeable power gains and increased mileage.  He could not give me an exact mileage increase but said he went to Branson and back towing a 1500lb trailer and it took less than two tanks of gas and normally it would have taken over two tanks.  So I would surmise he picked up probably a couple mpg, but I'll wait for final answer from him on that.

So, with that in mind I am going to order one of the cone Ea filters and get it installed.  The timing is pretty good because this weekend I have a guy coming from Kansas that is going to help me with the building of a new intake system for my car that is aimed at reducing Intake Temperatures.

The good thing about this is that I will be able to use my scan tool to get before and after flow rates and intake temps.  I'll probably have to use my current foam filter initially but that will just give me a better comparison between the two filters.  The new intake system should bring my temps to within 10* or so of ambient which would be awsome considering what I see now.

I have and Ea in my Focus. I don't drive it enough though to tell you if its any better. I also switched out from the one that came with my IceMan intake. I have been getting 27-29 mpg mixed driving.
