It's more fun at the SVT Owner's Association club events. 300 HP Cobras and Lightnings and some other assorted 'heavy HP' cars. My 1st event was a couple of years ago with my SVTf. I heard one Cobra guy tell another "Don't worry about the Focus guys, their cars aren't that fast."
HEH HEH!!!
They had never seen me run, but from what I told Chris Yates (who ran the event) they decied to make me an instructor (but I was in a Focus, so I couldn't be that fast). Pretty brave considering I could have lied.
There were about 6 of us in the Focus/Contour class and I was leading, so Curt Bonnell decided that he needed to see how I did it. He took a ride with me. I'm still waiting for him to start a road race team so I can drive for him.
At the end of the day fastest time of the day went to an Evo VIII, 2nd FTD was Chris Yates in a 96 Cobra, 3rd was a Spec Miata, 4th fastest time of the day was none other than me (around a second behind the Evo in my 2nd event in the car). But how could that be? The Focus guys aren't that fast. HEH HEH HEH to that big mouth Cobra guy! I beat him good.
