Do you HAVE to be registered to participate in SCCA autox events?? I
wanna hit up the one in Augusta thats coming up, but dont have $$ for
the SCCA annual dues and stuff...also, this would be my frist
autox...still reading up on things (like what goes on during the event,
where to line up, tips and all, etc).

Anything useful would be great to know (e.g. what to bring, what not to bring, helmet??, race with 1/4 tank gas?, ...).

This will be my frist autox, and my car is completely stock (will
change in a few weeks). Stock tires, stock suspension (no rear sway),
stock everything (ill be pulling out my sub and spare/jack). I just
plan on getting out there, having fun, and getting experience with my
car and how it handles...

Im sure this comes up on here 3847239857324 times.

Hexx -  I just chatted with a member of SCCA and he said:

No you don't have to be a member of SCCA but he said if you join SCCA the day of the event, usually you can participate in the event @ no charge.

I think the event in Maine is run by the Maine Auto X club and not SCCA(I could be mistaken). Anyway, they let you run but its like $5 or $10 more if your not a member.

If you have a Helmet bring it. It needs to SNELL90 or newer. Take your subs out because they will have you do it anyway. The lighter the car the quicker you will be. Take out anything not needed that isn't bolted bown because you can't have anything loose in the car. You need all wheel studs and nuts on, if you have hubcals or center caps that cover the lugs leave them at home. If you wanna run with 1/4 tank or less thats fine.

Can't think of anything else right now

The events in Maine are run by the Cumberland Motor Club.  They have a website http://www.cumberlandmotorclub.com/.  You don't have to be a member...it costs a little more. A few of us are meeting at Dunkin Donuts in Topsham, Maine and driving up as a group if you're interested...PM me and I can send directions.

Check this TF link for more info about where we are meeting.

I think the helmet only needs to be DOT approved. If you bring it and they say you cant use it there are others there that you can use.. .no worried. Cant wait to meet ya!
