Yep, it appears to be another one again. I was talking to my mother in law last night and she told me that the 2000 Focus, I believe this will only affect the wagon and hatch back focus. No sedan's. The rear hatch on the 2000's have been known to pop open on the road/highway. I think I might know what this would intail. For those w/ the hatchback lik myself or ones w/ the wagon. When you close your hatch, there is metal rod that catches the hatch and is supposed to keep it locked, until you need to open it, well there is what appears to be this black tape thingy that is wrapped around that metal catch and my is torn up soooo badly that when I try to shut the hatch, the hatch pops open. I have to adjust the tape thingy so that my trunk will stay closed. I have a feeling this is what they are talking about.

oh I thought you meant the OTHER soon to be recall for 2000s. There is an engineering inquiry or whatever the hell step is right before a recall, on the door handles sticking to the point of not opening. The article said they had 17 complaints to the NTSB. funny, they must have 17 THOUSAND complaints about the fuel pump but no recall.

I think this is what the problem is on the Focus Hatch popping open. Sorry for the blurryness of the pic.

I have a 2k2 and I have issues with difficulty opening my doors.

Sometimes, ppl. who ride with me and aren't focus owners, or don't ride with me often, question if it's still locked or not.

I've had mine looked at before and there wasn't much done about it.

This just started happening to me yesterday on my ZX3; as I pull out of the driveway, the 'door open' light  comes on the dash. I go out back, and the hatch is open...do you know for sure if they're issuing a recall? Do you have any more info on it? Thanks

My door handles used to do the same thing....not work. I fiddled with them a bit and figured out that there is a metal rod inside the door that needs to be bent a little bit. I did my drivers side one, now I need to do my passenger side one. I did the drivers side one over a year ago and no problems yet. Did anybody notice that this problem gets worse when it is hot out? :?

Yea I also notice that my driver side door, the handle is getting harder to open. Sucks if it gets messed up, cuz that's the last thing I need.
