I caught the end of a news broadcast yesterday stating there's been a recall for the Focus.  Anyone aware of the recall? I lost the link to the recal web site and it's probably not listed anyway.

Found It!!

Ford recalls nearly 359,000 Focus cars:

Corrosion build-up that could lead to a door opening while a vehicle is moving has led to a recall of 358,857 2000-02 model year Ford Focus cars.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warns an occupant could suffer serious injury if the door doesn't latch properly and comes opens while the vehicle is in motion.

Ford dealers will evaluate rear door latches and install a lower rocker panel seal to the door. Latches that pass inspect will be lubricated to prevent future corrosion. Those that fail inspection will be replaced free of charge.

"A buildup of corrosion at the pawl pivot area of the rear door latch can cause a binding condition of the pawl that may affect proper engagement of the pawl into the catch," said a bulletin posted by NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation.

That would be the one. I read about this last night, my car falls into the potential hazard range, but I've never had a problem with my car door.

Great, mine falls in that range too, I hope that I don't have that problem.  Does anyone know if they are going to send out recall notices for this.....

I just talked to Ford today, and they told me they will have the parts for the recall soon, and then they will be changing them all out.  And it is for the Sedans, Wagons, and ZX5's.

Jenn talked to Ford....30 Days from yesterday is when they expect to have the replacement parts for the Focus. They also said that in 30 days they will be sending out the notices to all focus owners it applies to. They also said if you have any problems latching your doors that they will replace them with the stock parts they have, but you will still have to replace them when the recall takes effect.

Whoops, forgot to post about this here. It pays to date the Service Writer for a Ford Dealership. She gives me all the latest updates on recalls.

HaHa.. a friend of mine came into work the other day to warn me about this recall. Told me to be careful with my daughter in the back.
Ummmm.. I have a ZX3 lol! It'd be amazing if any rear door flew open while I was driving!
